Probably work

I painted this up this morning. Not my best work, but I think I did okay with it given I did it in an hour or so and haven't painted anything in a couple years.

I present the Aasimar Annah Greystone, Time Lord, Cleric of Peliosus, and part-time rogue, level 5
.

Also, now that I look at it on a screen, that's not a great picture. I apologize for the quality. I just took a quick snapshot with my phone. Might go back and set up a proper shot with the DSLR later.

Bones minis are really hard to paint. I primed her first, but for some reason, the paint kept sliding off. The level of detail on them is not really amazing either. I think I need to finally build myself a lightbox.

I just found the name and some examples of what I can only assume was the pewter one painted. There's detail on there that I didn't even realize was a thing. I thought the Bones series looked pretty cool, but in retrospect, I wish I had the original one. I feel like I missed out on so much. :(

The paint was sliding off for two reasons:

1. You need to wash the figure with warm soap and water then dry thoroughly.

2. Your paint was thinned too much, Bones doesn't like a thin first coat. Don't glop on a thick coat but don't make it as thin as you would when you do layers. A medium consistency works well as long as you don't load your brush up too much.

3. Bones figures don't need primer. If you have to prime them use Vallejo brush-on or spray them with Army Painter.

Nice. I had no idea they would run so contrary to my expectations. I guess it makes sense, being a softer material.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep that in mind next time I go to paint one.
