I just came across this a week or two ago, it's supposed to be available sometime this year on Steam.

Spoiler:

It's a retro indie shooter that looks to be heavily influenced by by games like DOOM, Heretic, Quake, and Redneck Rampage. I've been playing some Quake and Quake II lately, so this looks pretty intriguing to me. Definitely has a very freaky, creepy vibe to it. Reminds me of Texas Chainsaw Massacre/American Horror Story/True Detective (Season 1)/Pumpkinhead.

Gotta admit though, when I first saw the video and it said "Rampage past the Rednecks" my first thought was "That's a little exploitative..." but then I made the Redneck Rampage connection - I think that's more what they were going for.

What do you guys think?

Hope it's good. Was looking forward to STRAFE and apparently it's crap.

STRAFE is supposed to be a Rogue-like FPS, and I don't think that's the case with DUSK. DUSK is looking like more of a run-and-gun Quake-type game. It definitely has a pretty striking style. Hopefully it has some substance to back it up as well.

I know, but STRAFE promised to play like a retro-fps, and from what I've heard and seen, it doesn't. Dusk looks like it's going to be better though.

The names dropped in the trailer, are they supposed to be a big deal? They don't ring any bells for me personally.

Do you mean the names of the people working on the game, or the references to Redneck Rampage, Heretic, Quake, and DOOM?

If you're referring to the developers, I think it's just crediting them. I'm not familiar with them either, and this is coming from an indie game developer.

I assumed you would have, I just wanted to be sure.

But yeah, I haven't heard of any of the developers prior to this either.

Episode 1 is now available to people who pre-order. I was able to play the first few levels and it was surprising how much fun it was and how fresh a retro game putting a new spin on traditional FPS elements could be. The settings and scenery are very creepy, the enemies are freaky (I wish there were more variety here, but I haven't finished the episode) and the weapons are based on traditional FPS weapons. The music is awesome and comes in at very appropriate moments.

If you were ever (or still are, or want to be) fans of games like Quake, I recommend checking this one out.
