Quick Question:

Does the Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought lose the Storm Bolter/Heavy Flamer option if it takes the Axe and Blizzard Shield options?

Thanks.

Anyone know?

Thanks.

Yes. The Storm Bolter is built into the Powerfist, when you replace the fist the Bolter goes with it.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

^Agreed, though the loss of a single storm bolted shouldn't throw a wrench in things if you can get that behemoth into combat quickly enough

That's always the crutch innit.
Put some Smoke Launchers on the big nugget, a cover save on a Dread is nice.

Why bother if you have the shield? It's a 3+ invuln.

for a start because smoke in 8th presumably will give a penalty to hit

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Well, I assume we're having a discussion for 7th. Who knows what 8th will do to the Space Wolf Dreadnought.

Because blizzard shield only works for it's front facing and you don't get any save on sides or rear.

I was actually thinking that you can stack it with Night Fighting and Ruins to grab a 2+ save on the first turn. Mine usually come out of a Drop Pod so the back and sides don't get targeted often.
Good catch SK.

Although facings are going away in 8th so it won't be a problem anymore.

I stand between the darkness and the light. Between the candle and the star.

Indeed. Taking cues from the Imperial Knight, it'll go to a 360* save.
