So, Warboss Green is the new Goblin green.

When I started 40K, I painted some terrible minis using a base of something like Goblin Green (might have been anything, I didn't realize GW made paints in 1994).

Here is one that I found recently (I like the booties):

I tried to replicate the scheme (sans booties and knee pads) and something feels off. I think the red is a bad match.

I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for a better color for a Goblin green base (over Waaagh green).

The colour of the green looks pretty much the same to me. The red definitely looks different but I think that's because you painted a solid coat of it this time rather than the messiness of your 1994 fig. Certainly an improvement. Perhaps Khorne Red could work for the red, if you wanted it a little darker and more like your original but I actually quite like what you've done. I definitely can't see a difference between the greens, other than the original maybe being a tiny bit darker in the face. You've also highlighted your new figure which brings the green out more than the original.

Epic improvement overall, I never thought I'd like green and red marines, but I quite like your new figure.

I think maybe a orangey red might brighten things up.
