Hey all. I'm starting Savlar Chem Dogs and I have a Leman Russ primed but I'm not sure how to move forward. I know how to do the typical Cadian camo pattern i.e. the one presented here:

But I'm not sure how that would fit in with the Savlar, who I've only ever seen in an ochre yellow and drab brown. Now that in and of itself isn't a problem really since the Germans in WW2 used an ochre color as a base late war to start their camo with, so it's not like I'm concerned that the preponderance of ochre willl be bad necessarily. I'm kinda waffling between either just ochre yellow and brown (like the Savlar themselves), or a tri-color camo scheme like this one:

I really don't want to ruin a model by messing up the paint scheme so I ask you, fellow Dakkanauts: would ochre yellow and brown work, or should I attempt a tri-color scheme?

Hope that made some semblance of sense, and thanks,
- ripjaw

What kind of pattern were you thinking of for the camo? What colours will work in what proportions kind of depends on the pattern you want.

Tri-colour isn't a terrible idea, but the one in the photo is kinda fuggly. The lack of shadow and weathering on that tank don't help the overall look either, which doesn't help.

I was thinking of a pattern like the video but with the green replaced by brown. And I agree on the pic, I just picked a historical example for comparison.

Thanks,

There's a middle ground where you could work some green undertones into either or both colours (or via weathering). I think some green would work well, just maybe not in even proportions;

Well if either pattern could work I'd prefer to keep it simpler. I was thinking basecoating the model with either Rhinox Hide or Mournfang Brown with Averland Sunset as the yellow, and then work from there.

I think that would work just fine.

If you want to add a little green, you could put it in as a weathering, by using Nihilak Oxide. Savlar being a toxic world, it wouldn't be a gigantic leap of imagination that there's a lot of corrosion and weathering on their tanks.
