Subject: Front-line repair shop - tank conversions and scratchbuilds
I started out as a fan of a small bunch of IG veterans (and now I'm using them for playing killteam) - the Mordant Acid Dogs regiment (there were also period, when I changed theme to chaos heretical). But since 2010 my small army developed into a tank division.
First line - normal 40k vehicles
Second - Tehnolog proxies/scratchbuilds
Third - gakky made proxies
You can see a Land Raider I made for using with Inquisitorial forces but never used. Probably, will turn it into a Nurgle Land Raider. M3 Scout model - maybe, make Taurox proxy? Manticora proxy, that can move using micro motor and gears I salvaged from film photo camera.
Cheap Tehnolog tank converted into Leman Russ Exterminator:
Some vehicles are complete, some just planned.
Currently, I'm thinking about what to do with these new Tehnolog tanks:
They are almost same size as a Chimera, just need some Schürzen to make them wider. But I don't use much Chimeras, I already have 3 of them + 1 poorly made proxy. Original turrent has Hydra-like autocannons. But I have Hydra turret too (3d printed). Hydras not so useful currently. Make two more Leman Russes? I have to decide

I always like to see tank conversions, especially since i'm too lazy to search for compatible models by myself.
As for your question, well, it's hard to say with the new edition on the horizon and a lot of changes coming to armour in general. But, hey, it's not like you could ever have too many Leman Russ, right?
They look like they could be easily converted into manticores - just weapon swaps. Although I have no idea what the effectiveness of manticores is in either the current or future edition.

Yeah, but I was thinking recently and liked the original Leman Russ design more (it's ugly and stupid, but it's representing 40k style). In my taste, Tehnolog tanks are more suitable for specialized vehicles, like artillery, , repair, tractors etc. Anyways, if I need a lot of tanks, I can always buy 10 of them from Tehnolog - it's dirt cheap.
So...
I started making Vyiern artillery vehicle (I hope, it will not make a turd in a new edition)

There are two options. One of the options does not require any changing, only the rockets look a little thin compared to the original Manticora rockets
i got some other model, no idea what to do with.
You can see here the original small ZOD tank. Some robot, walker. Everything is much bigger, than I expected. I planned to use robot chassis as a platform for lascannon, but it's size almost like a tank.
Also, a Condor Robogear flyer
Looks like Space Marines small interceptor (forgot the name)

Manticoras made of Tehnolog 1/48 scale Bronekorpus (MST-2) AA tanks aka Zaslon.
Yeah, and little Manticore puppy. It can be used as a Cyclopus demolition tank with different turret
I want to change it's hull to be more like Chimera's, but maybe later.

Meantime I want to change size of my tehnolog tanks closer to the Leman Russ dimensions. The main difference is the height of the model. I have a raised chassis, but it is not enough
And here are some options for what I can do
(I made a 3d model of a tank to play with options)
1) Place another smaller turret with a lascannon on top of main turret. But this option seemed odd to me
2) Additional section of the hull body. Mmmm .... Mmmmm??? Ыыы?
3) The third option is less painful with the use of a large commander's cupola with a machine gun and periscopes as on modern armored vehicles for kinds of anti-terrorist actions

I also like the turret on a turret look, though the Cupola doesn't look bad either. Raising the hull is interesting, but likely to be a lot of work, especially to do more than once...

Outstanding conversions and excellent use of 3d printed parts to support conversions! I use a lot of Tehnolog machines for conversion basis also- terrific price and a lot of variation available. The Wyvern turret was particularly nice, I thought.
The Shadowsword- my word! Well done.
I used the newer Tehnolog turret variant as a fairly standard Hydra, but haven't messed with anything for awhile (been scrambling to finish a walled villa project that is nearly done and gone on too long!). I'm thinking that if the turret were reversed, with the weapon system attached to the wide end and a mantlet to cover, the resulting 'tear drop' turret would be very futuristic.
I also picked up a couple of the large gun-wielding automatons, this is how mine came out as a stanrd build:
Very interested to see what you get up to next!

After a redbull sip, suddenly realized how to make it easier. The picture explains how:
The connector side pins are located ABOVE the tracks. I grinded them a bit with a file to flatten.
From robo vacuum cleaner it become a crude
brutality and a bit of Star Wars feeling
I don't need body extension anymore, but the turret pin remains old (4mm not 3mm after checked again)
With a turret. Remind that I drilled a hole closer to the middle to make it ... more correct?
As you can see, now its satisfies WYSWYG in all dimensions
I used the wheels to hold the tracks together.

And I got this tank body, all I need is a turret and tracks. as one gypsy guy said "this motorcycle only needs wheels and motor"

and another project. I have dreamed about the conversion of the bommer all my life (not all). Need to choose what to do with the nose part. Will it be an Avenger strike fighter or something better
