So i remember hearing a lot way back when like skaven destroy stories of their past and often forget about their own history as they're so selfish. This leads me to come to multiple conclusions. First they don't know much about their history and can't learn from it. Second their enemies when attacked are ambushed and barely know anything about rat-men much less how to counter them esp. if they rarely fight them. This should make battles against the skaven a very curious thing indeed as an army that relies on swarms, stealing weapons (which the enemy may be somewhat familiar with if it's based on their tech) and the fact it's an army that probably doesn't fight much outside of dwarfs so you have an faction who is massive and whose weakness and strengths are unknown but they're also not as battle tested against certain enemies (in the case of empire and bretonnia) and that can result in both sides not being prepared for each other. To my knowledge the skaven spy on all races at least so the skaven are not ignorant of other factions even if in many ways they can be ignorant of their own race (like knowing the great heroes of the skaven in many ways). They are still not entirely battle tested against many factions with empire being an example but elves being one of the biggest examples.

Anyway what questions do you guys have in the lore and do any of the books answer any of my questions before Fantasy died off?

I will leave a larger reply when I have the time, but for now I advise reading "The Loathsome Ratmen and all their Vile Kin". It is an old Black Library book, but you can find it online if you know where to look *coughtorrentcough* and it pretty much explains how the Skaven work and think.
