I currently play Blood Angels and want to start a Xenos army.

I have Eldar, Dark Eldar, and Tyranids in consideration but I don't know which to play.

If you have any other armies for me to have a look at please share

Thanks

Personally my vote would go to the Tau, but of the three that you listed I would have to say my recommendation is Eldar. You can really do a lot with them depending on which Aspects you chose to focus on, and they offer some deadly shooting as well as potent options for Psykers.

Edit: Welcome to Dakka btw!

I did the same thing haha. I ended up choosing Dark Eldar but that's because:

1) I like the way the models look, I didn't take rules into consideration. I care about enjoying how my army looks on the table, because most of the time, you will be looking at them, whether it's on the board or on the shelf.

2)the fluff is great. I love what they represent.

But that's just me, I have always enjoyed the fluff so I am more inclined to choose an army based on how they are represented in the novels and books more so then how they play on the tabletop.

Chose the army that looks better for you. Tyranids for example are awesome but the models in each unit are exactly the same, little room for customization. Same for eldar. Dark eldar instead offer way more customization, lots of different poses and heads and you can convert your own grotesques or talos quite easily with good results. Not many dark eldar players around, which is another point in their favor.

I've just started again and I got the Tau starting set and the optimised pathfinder team, great value, not super easy to paint but great value, good plastic. Didn't have any issues building, I think they set to drop from a high tier army to a mid tier on the coming 8th so still somewhat competitive.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka, great to see another Kiwi on the boards

Welcome to dakka! As previously stated look at the armies and decise which look and fluff appeal to you the most. That is the biggest part of deciding; if you like the way it looks and the fluff you will more likely stay playing that army instead of switching it for a new one.
