So I'm torn between starting my own chapter or using an existing chapter. This will be my first loyalist Space Marine army (played since 3rd edition, just xenos or chaos!). My own chapter I'd prefer to be black w/ red accents with maybe white symbols and it'd be a new chapter either completely new or maybe a successor to Blood Angels or Black Dragons. Not sure why Guilliman would send either chapters a Primaris gift though... as they have pretty major genetic defects. My other idea was to have Guilliman reinforce the Custodes with Primaris marines. I know they've recently started to go on the offensive. Would Custodes marines still be more powerful than Primaris though?

So color wise torn between Black w/ red accents vs all Gold w/ red accents.

I dont think that there is any way the Custodes process could overlap with the creation of a Primaris marine as they use different means of augmentation and genetic engineering; I like the color scheme on the homebrew chapter though! Who are the Black dragons if you dont mind me asking? They sound cool.

Custodes are not Marines, and apart from the superhuman aspects quite different, with their creation process being much more complicated.. So reinforcing them with Primaris Marines would not make sense, as they are not Marines to begin with. And yes, the Custodes are still physically superior to Primaris Marines. Nevertheless, if you want to play Custodes as they are, just paint them however you like as we have examples of different colorschemes.

However, I see no reason why Guilliman would not send Primaris Marines to Blood Angels or Black Dragons (or their successors). There are already some Blood Angels Primaris Marines, and I don't think that the Black Dragons would be deviant enough not to receive Primaris reinforcements.

Black Dragons are one of the "Cursed Founding" chapters and have bone growths that look like spikes/claws. Pretty sweet!

I really love Black Dragons for their genetic flaws, which the Primaris marine reinforcements wouldn't have. Maybe I'll stick to either a completely new chapter or Blood Angels successor.

I don't see why you couldn't keep the golden pain job on primaris marines and say they are part of a joint task force or some new type of deathwatch but better because in the 41st millennium gold beat silver ever time.

or just go with gold armor and say they're a new chapter. "The Golden Crusaders" or something, an Imperial fists sucessor.

actually not a bad idea, take the Imperial Fists colour scheme, replace yellow with gold, add a few variations to ensure a further differance (Maybe silver or white where the Imperial Fists use Red) and vialoa! a new Imperial Fists sucessor

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Custodious would likely still be q step above the marines even primus. There fully custom... Against the primus while upgraded still kinda marines.

They are each one a custom creation, highly skilled beyond norm and each are close quarters experts, can form squads effortlessly and drop into command chains.

Each one is about a space marine captain roughtly in skill.
Seniors, far far more deadly. Chaptain general give a chapter master a real challenging fight.

If you wanted to do a group of primus whow or with a custodian force... Makes sense...
And taking gold armour might be a handy way to make the veteran custodians less of a priority target?

Maybe there a specialist support group?

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

You know that the Red trim is only for one company.

And they have a Gold Successor.
