Good dial for a heavy bomber. Bomblet Generator looks like fun with Sabine. Cad Bane looks good (Although not as good as Sabine). Both of Captain Nyms abilities look like they are at least interesting choices for casual games.

I have to say, the most disappointing thing about Bomblet Generator is that fact that TIE Bombers cannot equip it.

I like it so far, Bomblet sounds fun, the dial is better than I was expecting, and Cad Bane is like a scum Sabine, that isn't Sabine, but not awful I suppose. Minefield mapper might be fun to try out too

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

It can t-roll but can't k-turn, that's odd, but okay. The Havoc title not being able to take non-unique salvaged astromechs kinda sucks. Of course if it did allow it, Unhinged Astromech may be broken on that thing.

Maybe I'm wrong but minefield mapper is looking like an interesting AoD device. Obviously for the bombs that go off only when ran over. I don't own a K-wing so I have no price comparison without pulling it right up, but this thing looks pricy and has the potential to very expensive, like 2 ship lists.

Finally, the one ship in the wave I actually care a bit about. First impressions:

Generic: solid, if not great. For 2 points more than a b-wing (and PS 1) you get +2 HP, a better dial, and better upgrade options. Great in every meta? I don't know, but that's a pretty good starting point. I'm not sold on it as a bomber though, you can't take Sabine or advanced SLAM so your bombs are a lot less scary. But maybe as a generic jousting ship that happens to have bombs? Maybe k-wings are good enough that even a weaker k-wing can still be good? And a PS 3 generic with an EPT might have some potential.

Title: good, but not an auto-include. Crew slots are obviously powerful, but so is FCS/AS, so that's probably an even trade and the appeal depends on exactly what you want to do with the ship. The salvaged astromech slot is pretty marginal right now, but there's still one un-spoiled (and it's a unique one, so almost certainly designed for this ship). Genius is obviously useful on a bomb ship, R4-B11 could be good in combination with FCS on a gunboat version, and I suppose you could do worse than R5-P8. I suspect with trading one slot for two you'll probably see the title, especially in something like a Nym/Miranda list where Sabine can go on a different ship.

Sol Sixxa: remember how the Scurrg lacks the k-wing's advanced SLAM tricks for positioning a bomb? Problem solved. Remember how k-wings with advanced slam and action bombs are powerful? Yeah, expect this to be a good option too. Maybe not competitive-tier, but good.

Nym (scum): I'm not too impressed. The ability is very situational, the bomb immunity effectively only matters with Genius and AoE bombs and the extra evade is going to be an occasional thing at best. And PS 8 is often a bad thing on a bomber.

Nym (rebel): now here's the power. Holding AoE bombs for later is really good, especially with how freely you can drop them with the bomblet generator. Between your held AoE bombs and action bombs ready to drop that's a ton of area denial and, with Sabine, dead ships. I'm already looking forward to playing Nym/Miranda.

Bomblet generator: wow. Some random dice, but it's essentially a seismic charge that you can drop every turn and Sabine nicely fixes that problem of random damage. This is Miranda's new toy with Sabine giving a third bomb slot to bring a set of cluster mines/conner nets. No more guessing where that enemy ship is going to move as you SLAM away and worrying that you'll waste your last bomb and only chance to kill those pesky aces. Drop one every turn just in case and love the area denial. I'm already planning to trade the thermal detonators in my Miranda/Biggs/stresshog list for a bomblet generator. And I suppose it's going to be good on other ships, even if not having a third bomb slot kind of hurts. But there's that scum Firespray with a special bomb deployment and three bomb slots...

Cad Bane: like Sabine, but not as good. Worse damage on cluster mines and bomblets, slightly worse damage on proximity mines. But it's a sign of how stupidly broken Sabine is that Cad Bane is still probably worth taking. The extra bomb slot is good on its own (say hi to u-boats that can sloop and drop a conner net on you), and you are still gettign extra damage out of your bombs.

Minefield mapper: don't believe the hype, this isn't all that good. You give up a very powerful upgrade slot in exchange for a one-shot minefield, and unless you go all-in on the minefield gimmick with something stupid like a 3x TIE punisher list your opponent is probably going to be able to fly around the minefield and escape. And if you go all-in with a terrible list like that, well, your opponent can probably just take the Soviet approach to mine clearing and run an expendable ship through your mines to clear a path and still beat your weak ships with what they have left. Now, it's still potentially useful just for how much it changes the opening turns, but you'll need a good plan that goes beyond spamming cluster mines on bad ships.

Seems like there is going to be some bomb funsies to be had with this ship, unlikely to be super competitive but not everything has to be (bad options are still bad however)

Disagree here. There's going to be bomb funsies, and I think it's going to be very competitive. I'm not sure exactly what the best setup is going to be, but I'd bet on this ship seeing competitive use.

I'm quietly hoping so, but bombs are quite tricky to theory out, and depends on the general meta

They're also hard to pull off, because a savvy opponent will factor it in his manoeuvres. What the bomblet generator will mitigate will be both the "use it or lose it" factor and the sense of safety that comes with knowing your opponent has depleted his bomb supply.

When I say hard to pull off, I don't mean it in a bad way. I much prefer a list that is hard to master and still requires thought, rather than, say, the simpler tactics of 4 TLTs.

I guess as an imperial I'm totally waiting for the assault gunboat or the missile boat (which in the video game had SLAM) before trying to get in on the bombing game...

I have half an idea to use a Jakku Gunrunner with Cad Bane on board and Bomblet Generator to spam them around for 20 points, good idea, probably not, but could be fun for a casual game

The only problem with that is that it is relatively easy to can that Quadjumper and AoE bombs are better if fewer of your enemy's ships can adjust their position after you drop the bomb.

I'm not expecting it to be good honestly, but it could be fun for a stupid game against my friend's 5 Tie Bomber list, or something else that's stupid.

We had a tourney where a player had 4 Gamma Squad Vets and he placed surprisingly well. His alpha strike was punitive, to say the least.

Outflanking

I'm contemplating the following:

Miranda Doni
Sabine Wren
Twin Laser Turret
Advanced SLAM
Extra Munitions
Bomblet Generator
Connor Net

Captain Nym
Veteran Instincts
Twin Laser Turret
Havoc
Advanced Sensors
Genius
Extra Munitions
Proton Bomb
Connor Net

Should be fun.

I'm thinking more about this:

Miranda Doni (29)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Extra Munitions (2)
Homing Missiles (5)
Intelligence Agent (1)
Bomblet Generator (3)
Advanced SLAM (2)

Captain Nym (Rebel) (30)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Extra Munitions (2)
Sabine Wren (2)
Conner Net (4)
Cluster Mines (4)
Thermal Detonators (3)

Total: 100

See, I really want Bomblets and Sabine on the same ship. Not only does this let me spread my bombs out (for 2 on Nym, 2 on Miranda), but it also prevents Sabine from becoming a dead card. Similarly, it keeps Bomblets a lot more dangerous by making sure that I can always guarantee 1 point of damage.

Sabine activates on any friendly bombs, not just her ship's.

I agree that losing a second type.of bomb on Miranda sucks.

I mean once you lose a ship. You either have Sabine (Dead card without bomblets) or Bomblets (A lot less threatening without Sabine), and I'd rather have both of them one one ship.

Ah, I see. Yes. Although on the other hand, you lose both elements at the same time if someone cans Sabine's ship. I'm of course very open to just playing the damn thing to find out!

Finally the Havoc! I am pretty damn happy about this expansion, not much to dislike so far other than mapper that I just don't see the point of. Nice dial, all the upgrades you could hope for, what's not to like?

Gonna try out this list and see how it fairs;

Captain Nym (Scum) — Scurrg H-6 Bomber 30
Veteran Instincts 1
Bomblet Generator 3
"Genius" 0
Havoc 0
Ship Total: 34

Fenn Rau — Protectorate Starfighter 28
Push the Limit 3
Autothrusters 2
Concord Dawn Protector 1
Ship Total: 34

Trandoshan Slaver — YV-666 29
Inspiring Recruit 1
Zuckuss 1
4-LOM 1
Ship Total: 32

Hadn't seen the release date, nice! So that means wave 12 will be announced at Gencon? Does that make it more or less likely to be Episode 8 stuff? There are six SKUs missing from between wave 11 to the scum aces stuff. Gonna bet on the Resistance A-Wing and the First Order Interceptor/Advanced.

So... just on the of chance I'm reading this wrong, Scum Nym can perform that great straight 5 red manoeuvre, and since he's obviously equipped with Genius, you can then drop a bomblet which will detonate soon thereafter and you get to ignore the damage?

Correct, just like you can drop any "reveal your dial" bump regardless of what happens when you reveal that maneuver.

Then yeah, that's looking like a great idea. Scum Nym, Havoc title, Genius, Bomblet Generator, Adaptability to lower pilot skill a bit to move sooner. And Ion Turret to keep people close.
