My First attempt at Tau, haven't painted in years, and decided to get back into the Hobby, always had a soft spot for Mechs and Tau hit it, anyway I went for a kinda roughed up scheme. But its been ages so feedback is most welcome, whats good, what need improving. Hit me.

I'd say thin your paints and apply a few selective highlights. The base is good, but I think it might have been a good idea to paint it beforehand with a sand colour, maybe zandri dust, because at some of the edges you can see the black base showing through the sand.

You love the T-Rex. Its both a hero and a Villain in the first two movies. It is the "king" of dinosaurs. Its the best. You love your T-rex.
Then comes along the frakking Spinosaurus who kills the T-rex, and the movie says "LOVE THIS NOW! HE IS BETTER" But...in your heart, you love the T-rex, who shouldn't have lost to no stupid Spinosaurus. So you hate the movie. And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.

Yeah...must have been hasty from my excitement I didnt even think about thinning (dumb I know) and I get what you mean with the base. Will take that into consideration too. Just finished assembling a Broadside so I'll try it out on that.

Looking for the Rest of the II Legion

Other than some more highlights it looks really good! I love the color scheme!

Good solid job there, man! It's never easy coming out of painting hibernation; it takes a while before you remember all your old skills.

I reckon a thorough repainting of the base would boost this model enormously. I'd go for a colour like red to contrast with the Coldstar, then perhaps a couple of drybrushes to make it pop. Just a thought!

Good luck with the Broadside :-)

Took your suggestion and gave it a try

Didnt do as well as I wanted too because I didnt want to spoil the model, but I know what I want to do with it. And really like where its going, will use it for future models.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Broadside is looking nice! A suggestion I have though is make sure you clean up the points at which you cut the model from the sprue, this is quite prominent on the missle pods.

Yeah, mrhappyface is right. I don't know about resin or metal, but all you need for the plastic models is a nail file and you can really improve the look of the models before you even start to paint them.
