Had the idea for an elite unit of saurus. As I'm sure people will notice, there was a lot of kitbashing involved- every saurus except for five have shields from the saurus cavalry (not just because they look cooler, but because the way regular saurus hold their shields make no sense to me- if you have a shield, it should be held up to protect your chest, not pointed forward). The other four have spare shields from the saurus guard kit, and one even has the shield from an oldblood kit. Three or four also have heads from the cavalry kit, and two have saurus guard heads. The champion has a saurus cavalry head and saurus guard shield, as well as the halberd of a saurus guard champion.

The painting process, in short: Chaos Black primer, followed by a basecoat of Stegadon Scale Green for the skin, and Ogryn Camo for the scales. (All applied in two thin coats, naturally). Layered with Ahriman Blue on the skin, then Scaly Green (no longer made by citadel paints) for the scales, then applied a wash of Coelia Greenshade on the entire model (this is where I made a mistake- I applied it too thickly, and I think the scales would have been better off with Nuln Oil), then skin highlights with Temple Guard Blue and then drybrushing the scales with Moot Green. The gold was painted with Hashut Copper, washed with Seraphim Sepia and highlighted with Gehenna's Gold. The shields were basecoated with Wild Rider Red, layered with Khorne Red, and finally washed with a 50/50 mixture of Nuln Oil and water. All leather straps were basecoated with Gorthor Brown, followed by Dryad Bark, then a wash of Reikland Fleshshade, and a highlight of Gorthor Brown again. The grass on the bases is a mixture of GW Static grass and Army Painter Grass Green, applied in different spots.
I'm not a great painter by any means, but I think they came out okay.

(Also sorry about the poor quality- my cell phone camera is getting old)

Beautiful work on the scales; love the red scheme on the shields.

Thanks! Dark green with a light green highlight is a wonderful alternative to the official blue scheme. It's actually based on the sacred spawning of tzunki, from way back in the day when sacred spawnings were a thing.

The shield is khorne red, washed with 1 parts nuln oil and 1 parts water.
