SM:
Biker captain
2*5 crusaders
5 Scouts
Godhammer Landraider
AC+HB Predator
Double heavy flamer landspeeder

IG
Scion commander with a plasma pistol
Regular commander
6 scion command squads all with plasma guns
4 basilisks
20 conscripts

Ig get 1-st turn.
4 plasma scion squads drop close to a landraider and together with a couple basilisks and commander's orders one-shot it. A couple crusaders die in explosion. 2 plasma scion squads drop close to a predator and speeder and with a help of the rest of the basilisks kill a predator, almost kill a speeder. Conscripts kill 1 scout.

Sm are down to less than 50% of the points and concede.

Did the IG steal the initiative? Otherwise, the SM player should have gone first.

Edit: Was this a Matched Play game? It also seems that you needed one more normal deployment unit in the IG list in order to deep strike that many Scion units.

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

I build IG...lots and lots of IG.

Maelstorm, so we rolled off to see who goes first. Anywayz, i doubt that it'd change much.
As for the number of units, i think i forgot he also had hwt or something.

Yeah, bauble wrap is gona be very important this edition. Those plasma scion command squads made their points back even vs ork boyz and stormboyz. I had no chances with this sm list here. Expensive vehicles like landraiders and predators are not really that great against suicide drops. At least it took him a comparable amount of points to down a landraider. But the predator went down too easilly.

Anywayz, scion comsquads are just a pretty broken unit. I think they're better than 7-th scatbikes cause you can't alpha-strike them and they do even more damage point-for-point. Sure, they have harder time living through the return fire - but there might be no return fire at all. If your opponent's running something like terminators, crysis suits, centurions or broadsides, scion comsquads will make their points back 5 times. I don't think that even bauble-wrapping will help. They'll just get out of rapid-firing range and still earn their points back effortlessly. And the worst part is that they're so easy to spam.

Tbh, IG is in a really domineering spot this edition - Scion squads drop an insane amount of S8 AP reducing firepower; getting to double tap and reroll 1's to hit (or wound).

The IG backline artillery is insanely strong as well, peppering everything with massive amounts of high strength firepower out of LOS. Meanwhile, 3ppm morale immune Conscripts can block the way and unleash an incredible amount of firepower; with or without orders.

Thanks for the batrep; it's a little disheartening to read though - hopefully it's not the state of the game going forward this edition (although I suspect it will be, in tournaments anyways).

heck, even going first the space marines list could have never dealt that much damage, in one turn.
"Elite" armies are in a bad spot.

Did you take advantage of smoke launchers to up his plasma drops chance of overheat/reduce the number of hits?

That combined with lack of bubble wrap in your list definitely really hurt.

He got 1-st turn. You can't use smoke launchers in the opponent's turn. Yeah, it's hard to fit a landraider and predator in a 1k pt list together with bauble wrap for sm. Orks are in better place vs ig so far.

But landraiders and predators can still be cool for more casual games. Or in games with some restrictions that protect you from spam of the op stuff.

One of the thing I notice most people missing is that there are two types of bubble wrap, there is deep strike bubble wrap and their is assault bubble wrap. For deep strike bubble wrap we have pretty solid options in things like attack bikes, scout moves, and allied scout sentinels. Something to consider

Yes you sure need a bunch of scouts. They're proably the best option.

Higher model count usually does better in low point games for me. I would have ditched the land raider for cheaper stuff.

I tend to agree, while I sometimes bring high points model to low point games it is hard to fit in chaff at that points level.

I was wondering about crazy combos on shooty horde armies.
