Hey all. Was wondering what people may think about this list. I have no razorbacks, and beside having to re-model some jumpers to have plasma pistols, I have all of these models. Lemartes, and Sanguinary priest drop down and attempt charge. Dante goes down with VV squads for plasma overload shots. Captain stays home with scouts to babysit my Devastators. I'm a casual player and go against mech orcs, vanilla's, necrons and Imp Guard firing lines mostly.

Thoughts? I initially was hoping to do an all- jumper list but I think a fire base would be good in a lot of situations. I like the devs more than tacticals because of the heavy weapons of course. With the new shooting rules I was thinking the Devs could advance around on foot and take pot shots if they had too, doing more damage and putting more shots out than

Is this legal with Dante?

Dante's chapter master ability combined with plasma is beastly! I used him in a game last night (against nids) and built my strategy around trying to maximise the impact of the rule. Essentially building a firebase around Dante, a pair of lasplas razprbacks and a baal pred with all the dakka that practically never misses a shot is not to be underestimated. Combined with two squads of jumping dc and a sanguard squad for counter assaults, I was able to render most of his army incapacitated by the end of my second turn. We called the game at the end of the third turn...
I don't recommend trying to assault from deep strike (or whatever it's called now) in the two games of 8th I've played I've seen 6 units attempt this and only one successfully. A better strategy imo is to use deep strike to get within range of a turn 2 charge while staying out of los of enemy shooty things. I would only deepstrike a unit at minimum range of I know that I have a good chance of shooting them down to be an ineffective counter should I fail the charge. Deepstriking Dante with plasma pistols/guns is going to be a solid choice for this role, or my personal choice would be a preist or maybe a libby (make this character the warlord for this to work) with a squad of plasma pistol sanguard to lay the hurt on whatever big scary thing you choose, d3 damage from EVERY melee attack with sanguard make them an excellent choice for hunting mcs and other nasty multiwound models, although they are kind of a glass cannon unit hence preist or libby to help them survive a bit better. Just make sure you strike first and you will do well. Beware of any enemies that give negatives to hit rolls as this can ruin your plans pretty quickly especially if they are -2 or better on the modifier.

Hope you find this useful

Thanks for the info! Yeah I've always been a fan of Dante and the other BA characters. They seem to have gotten a nice boost in combat and in supporting surrounding units.

I take it you are not a fan of Lemartes dropping in with D.C. Then? Does anybone else think that's a good combo or too hit and miss?

I played a game where Lemartes dropped in with 4 5 man DC squads, only two made it even with the rerolls but that was all that's I needed. DSing him and some dc is great shock and awe, but the average roll on 2d6 is a 7 so it is risky business.
