So once upon a time a really cool guy made a point list calculator see an example below. Today GW served him a Cease and Desist letter. We have some emails for GW's legal teams. please help me plead with GW to rescind the cease and desist or alternatively work with the man. It was a great calculator bringing people back into the game


Please do not incite or threaten them, we are simply trying to point out it was in the best interests of GW to keep this guy around.

Sighs. If you read what Reepy actually wrote, it was NOT a Cease & Desist letter, but a "polite notice of infringement" (his words).

He also says that he DID infringe their copyright on the 5 points in the letter, and this can be clearly seen in the screenshot.

The website uses Patreon, so it's a revenue stream, irrespective of whether people were paying or not. presumably there will have been some people using this as a freebie - also potentially lost codex and index revenue.

In the circumstances, maybe he's lucky NOT to get a c&d.

Maybe working with would generate more money for both; maybe it wouldn't, but GW seem perfectly within their rights here. Oh, and there's another thread on this already.

never said GW wasn't within their rights, maybe read a thread before posting next time.

It's pretty clearly NOT in GW's best interests to allow him to break their IP, lower sales of rules books and make money of their work.

What's the argument that you're using to say he should be allowed, because whatever it is i haven't seen it here

According to the closed website, that didn't happen, hence my post.

There are mechanisms for engaging in (licensed) activities with other people's IP. Asking Dakka's users to spam GW about it is not one of those.
