An army consisting of CCS, Infantry, Conscripts led by Guilliman and as many Venerable Chaplain Dreads with heavy weapons as possible. The dreads snipe armour (BS 2+) and can't be shot or easily assaulted behind the Conscript screen (being Characters). Said Conscripts and infantry provide close-mid range fire support. If the enemy makes it through the screen they get counter-assaulted by the Primarch and Dreads.

I think the FW Chaplain Dreads are a dumb unit; balance-wise I can understand the BA Librarian Dread/CSM DP being a Character as they have to get close to be effective, but the FW Chaplain gets all the long-range weapons with no drawbacks.

The Chaplain Dread can take at best a stormbolter and TLLC for ranged weapons, and costs a fair amount for it, they're a much better generalist than dedicated shooter for the cost.

For reference though i'd use hellhammers with maxes heavy dlamer sponsons to deal wih this, the thing is utterly terrifying

2 Vindicare's will deal with guilliman, might take a few turns but they will kill him. I would use a flamer vehicles to deal with the conscripts, they dont have any commisars so any morale will deal heavy casualties to them.

A baneblade with 4 twin heavy flamer sponsons would probably do the trick.

2 Vindicare is a OK option at best, they need 5s to wound and Gulliman still gets 5+ save, realistically it'll take 4-5 turns to shoot him to death unless you get real lucky.

Honestly it really doesn't take long to wipe a 50 man conscript blob, 2 maybe 3 storm ravens was able to wipe them out in a turn. If the opponent wants to hide girlyman behind the conscript the whole game then thats a positive thing for you since he is a absolute beast in CC.

2 Vindicares but focused on the likely Commissars for the conscripts. Once he's dead, pound then with Quad Batteries from Forge World and charge them with Custodian guard to scatter then with battle shock. Then the rest of the juicy center is open.

How many wounds on those dreads?

Three Storm Ravens is half an army. I would hope with half your army you can wipe out 1/10 of your opponent's army in a turn.

strike squad marines and razorback spam with TLAC. Kill the blob and then kill the dreads/

I just ran a vehicle spam list against tyranid horde.

A tesseract vault, monolith, tesseract ark, anni barge, pylons.

Spam as much tesla as possible, watch the infantry meeeeeeeeeeeelt.

Then focus the dreads when the blob is gone. Its a large amount of wounds to get through, with quantam shielding on the little ones, and living metal all around.

Add in the FW hq, and a few spyders to regen lots of wounds and you have a good list that is hard to blow up.

The idea at it's most basic would be - Dispersed Prismatic Cannons and Shuriken Cannons thin out the conscript horde enough for Fusion Pistol troupes to jump straight over them and open up on Guilliman and the Dreads (nice name for a band, incidentally) as point-blank as possible.

Vindicares wound infantry on a 2+ (I assume Guilly is infanctry), and they ignore invun saves. I can't remember if they are -3 or -4 Ap which might be where the 5+ comes in.

But yea, not sure if its the best way. They can be really swingy with only d3 Wounds unless they roll a 6 to wound.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

An equal amount in points of Khorne Beserkers and Khorne Lords for re-rolls(Grab Kharn too, why not?). Just one of the 20 man Zerker Hordes with a Lord would kill over 75 conscripts per turn, kill 1 and a half Dreadnoughts per turn or kill Guilliman. Kharn could also be used to wipe a Dreadnought per turn or just kill 8 conscripts.

Yes, a lot of Zerkers would be killed by shooting/overwatch and yes, when the conscripts+dreadnoughts attack back it's going to hurt but I wrecken it would be quite close given the large amount of Zerkers that are attacking.

(For extra fun, take the big 20 man drop pods to drop Zerkers right in their face)

How to beat it: use LoS blocking terrain to your advantage and laugh at the immobile fortress of enemy troops as you take every objective on the table. If there is no LoS blocking terrain on your table, stop failing so hard at 40k. If they don't turtle up in the first place and play to objectives as well, then you actually have a game.
