So before Primaris Marines came out, the highest Mk of Power Armour we had was Mk8 which was used by SM Officers and Deathwatch. Now we have Mk10 Power Armour for the Primaris Marines, so could someone tell me where Mk9 Power Armour is mentioned in the lore, if it is mentioned at all that is.

it's not mentioned at all, GW however has reckongized and noted on the mk direprency which suggests to me they might have ideas on addressing it...
that or it's a dangling plot hook they've left open for a author, or something. my guess is MK 9 was a prototype for the MK X armor, and never saw field deployment. proably a b ulky armor that was more intended to refine the interfaces for the armor on a Primaris sized body. think of it this way, how common would earlier marks of armor be, if they never saw combat while wearing them?

Does Gravis armor have a mark?

But really I suspect we'll see more on this when the next non chapter astartes power armor codex gets released (so Grey Knight/ Death Watch/ SoB/ Talons of the Emperor)

Gravitis is MK X. apparently MK X armor is a modular system that can fit a number of differant armor peices and systems on it dependant on need.

Unfortunately the designs for Mk IX were contained in a cogitator engine running Windows 9 and as such could not be extracted.

I think the Imperium pulled a microsoft and skipped directly to 10. I guess no one likes 9.

Maybe we'll see it in this edition? Cawl's been given leave to innovate so perhaps new space marine things may have Mk9 armour?

This is where I'd put my signature...If I had one!

I could see it, a new wave of toys for standard astartes, complete with a new mark of armor.

Another vote for a Windows reference. There's something similar with the Tau: they're now onto the Fifth Sphere of Expansion, the Fourth Sphere having apparently vanished without a trace.. as the space station Babylon 4 did on the tv series Babylon 5.

My guess is that Mk 9 will end up being explained as something similar to Mk 5 - a stop gap suit. Perhaps, as with Corvus Armour, the Mk 10 Tacticus was originally intended to be Mk 9, but something occurred to push it back to Mk 10. Perhaps, as it seems regular SM's can upgrade themselves to Primaris, then their standard suits will similarly be upgraded - resulting in something not quite Mk 10, but above previous marks.

To be fair that has a real good reason for existing as it allows people and the offical writers to create T'au planets and armys outside of T'au space to justify them fighting within the fluff armies they likely would never fight as of right now like the blood angels.

And this is something thats been needed with the Tau for a looooooooooooong time. GW amde a horriable horriable mistake giving them such slow speeds and thus limiting them the way they did

I thought the T'au fourth sphere of expansion was addressed and that it was a complete flop thanks to the formation of that giant Warp tear we now have stretching across the galaxy.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

Maybe mark 9 developed sentience and had to be put down before it could create another men or iron rebellion.

same thing. Few people realize that Terminator 2 Judgement Day was a historical drama, with real shots of Seattle being destroyed when Win9 decided it didnt need humans. They covered it up pretty well but you can still see a lot of construction cranes in Seattle rebuilding.

I was personally thinking that there was a grand conspiracy to remove the number 9 all together...

i.e. Windows 9, MX9 Power Armour.. didn't happen..

Warhammer 8th ed then AoS

It's just like Valve and the number 3

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Most likely Cawl developed Mk9 originally. But Gulliman didn't wake up yet... So having nothing better to do with his saturdays he went on the make the Mk10, and it was better than Mk9 so he just swapped it out. Had Gulliman woken up in Mk36 the mk9s would likely have been the standards.

yeah thats my guess too. the MK 9 was a interm design between mk 8 and mk 10. likely with several proof of concept ideas that only reached FULL development with MK X

It was a complete flop and it was because of the giant warp rift but the thing is, is that all of the ships and soldiers and civilians who went with it disappeared into the warp to places unknown. Giving people an excuse to create T'au plants anywere in the galaxy.

Nothing. Windows 9 never existed. Microsoft made Windows 8, it was not popular so when making their new OS they skipped 9 and went to 10 to distance them selves from 8.
