Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

My army:
Chaos Lord
Chaos Lord in Terminator armour
Terminators
3x Khorne Bezerkers
2x Rhinos
Havocs
Renegade Knight

His army:
Tank Commander
3x Leman Russ
Stormtroopers
Stormtrooper commander
F-ing Robots
Enginseer
Tech Priest
Data Smith
(Some names may not be accurate)

Game type: Secure and Control
Deployment: Hammer and Anvil

Setup: He deployed first and put his models amongst terrain more than 24" away from me, except the stormtroopers that went into reserves, with his tank commander and Enginseer on the objective. I set up as close as I could be to him with the havocs on the objective.

First turn:
I stole the initiative. Everything moved closer, the Rhinos advanced. The terminators + Lord dropped in front of the Robots and fired their plasma supercharged which killed a Robots and one of my Terminators (Gah)! The renegade knight fired his rapid fire battle cannon and it's stubbers at the Robots and killed another one. The Terminators charged and killed nothing (so many whiffs) plus I lost a Terminator in overwatch and another two in combat.
In return, my opponent backed out of combat and the priest, smith and a russ managed to kill the last Terminator and drop the Lord to 4 wounds. The rest of the russes fired on the knight and dropped it to 9 wounds (the humanity! ). He, thankfully forgot about the stormtroopers.

Turn 2:
The Rhinos move up further and popped smoke (not in charge range), the knight moved in to charge a Leman Russ and the Lord moved to charge the priest. The knight fired on the Robot and reduced it to 4 wounds (just die already!) and the Lord shot the Priest and did nothing. On the charge? The knight whiffed and did nothing and the Lord reduced the priest to 3 wounds.
His stormtroopers finally came down and with combined fire from Leman Russes they destroyed the knight. Everything else tried to destroy the incoming Rhinos and managed to reduce one to 5 wounds but didn't scratch the other.

Turn 3:
In shooting the havocs killed all but one stormtrooper. Finally the Bezerkers are here! Charges galore! Two Bezerker units and the Chaos Lord charged a Russ and lost two to overwatch. Another bezerker unit charged the last Robot and the Smith. The Rhino on full wounds charged the tank commander and lost 3 wounds to overwatch. As far as combat went? Urrrrr... The Leman Russ lost 4 wounds, the Robot lost no wounds, the Priest lost no wounds and the tank commander lost no wounds. In return the Robot killed 3 bezerkers! :(
He replied by... not doing much. The only thing that took any wounds from shooting was the Rhino who was reduced to 4 wounds. But god damn canticals (or whatever they are): d3 mortal wounds done to enemy units within 1", so of course the two bezerkers in combat with the Robot took 2 mortal wounds. In combat? Bugger. All. Happened. (Well a Leman Russ took another wound)

Turn 4:
Havocs killed the last stormtrooper and reduced their commander to two wounds. My Rhinos charged the tank commander and the Robot (who had healed to full wounds again btw). In combat? Stalemate again, the Russ was reduced to 4 wounds and nothing happened anywhere else.
This is what turned it: shooting saw a Havoc die and the Rhino with 4 wounds die but combat saw the Leman Russ die (freeing up two units of zerkers and a Lord) and the Priest died.

Turn 5 (game continued):
Everything I had swarmed the Robot + Smith + Enginseer + Tank Commander sat on the objective which left the Enginseer and smith dead, the tank commander wounded but that damn robot survived!

We ended it here as I held both objectives with a majority and had linebreaker and my opponent didn't have enough to swing it before the game ended.

Post match analysis:
- My rolling sucked very badly.
- Knight didn't do much but it was necessary to draw fire.
- Terminator alpha strike is very powerful (shut down the Robots 72 shots).
- Robots are very powerful (they just won't die and you can't ignore them).
- Bezerkers shouldn't charge tanks unless they have a champion with a power fist.
- Terminator lords are very beafy for their points.
- Battle cannons are far better than everyone has been making out (not saying they are amazing but they certainly aren't bad like people have been saying).
- Having cheap, tough models (like Rhinos) are necessary to hold dangerous models down in combat.

That's as much as I can think of right now, if anyone has any questions or requests, feel free to ask. Apart from that (despite my awful rolling (I rolled so many 1s and 2s)) this was a very fun game and I must say I am loving 8e so far.

Nice battle report! My Word Bearers already have a Terminator squad kitted out for plasma from 7th that I wanted to try glad it worked out for you.
What did you have on your Havocs? Autocannons?

Just be sure those 1s don't creap up on you (always remember to drop a Lord in with them).

4 Heavy Bolters: cheaper and I personally believe a better all rounder.
