Armies:
Dark Eldar List
Space Wolf List

Game: No Mercy
Map: Spearhead Assault
First to Deploy: Space Wolves

Deployment
SW1: The first squad of Long Fangs deploy in the ruin in the Space Wolf deployment zone, setting up with their Lascannons and Missile Launchers having a clear view of the battle.
DE1: The first Tantalus is placed on the go line at an angle. These things are huge!
SW2: The second set of Long Fangs goes into the ruin.
Spoiler:
DE2: Tantalus 2 is deployed forwards with a gap between it and Tantalus 1 to allow for deploying other units.
SW3: The Land Raider containing Blood Claws is plonked front and centre
DE3: The Farseer is popped down between the Tantali
Spoiler:

SW4: An Assault Cannon Razorback is placed to escort the Land Raider
DE4: The Taloi are placed near the Farseer
SW: The other three Razorbacks are placed as shown below.
Spoiler:
Dark Eldar Turn 1

Movement
the Taloi move up behind the LoS blocking ruin. Urien hops out of his Tantalus and Advances forward, putting himself in a position to provide his +1T bubble. Both Tantalus move, giving themselves line of sight to the Lazorbacks. The farseer Advances up next to Urien.
Spoiler:
Psychic Phase
The Farseer casts Doom on the nearest Lazorback and follows this with Smite on the Assault Cannon Razorback (nearest unit), which was just within 18" doing 1 Mortal Wound.

Shooting Phase
This is what I had been looking forward to lets see how the Tantali do!

The first one opens up, splitting its guns one onto each Lazorback. Against the Doomed Lazorback it scores 5 hits, which only convert into 3 wounds, even with Doom! The Lazorback then rolls its 6+ saves failing them all and taking 6 wounds! Shooting at the normal Lazorback gives no hits at all with a string of ones and twos.

The second tantalus then opens up with the same split. It does another 6 wounds to the Doomed Lazorback, comfortably destroying it. The second gun actually manages to hit this time and does 4 wounds to the previously undamaged Lazorback.

Not a bad opening volley, even with one gun turning against us.

Space Wolf turn 1

Movement
The Land Raider and Assault Cannon Razorbacks advance towards my tantalus clump. Nothing disembarks.
Spoiler:
Shooting

The Space Wolves focus all of their shooting on the lead Tantalus, starting with the Lazorback. One weapon hits and penetrates the Night Shield, hammering home for 6 wounds!

Next the Long Fangs open up. With their las cannons they manage a further 5 wounds, taking the Tantalus down to 7. The krak missile storm, however, bounces off harmlessly, leaving hte barge intact for now!

The Land Raider fires at the Tantalus, also, using its multi melta, hurricane bolters and Twin Assault Cannon. The multimelta misses, but the Assault cannon pushes through 3 more wounds, leaving the Tantalus on only 4!

The first Razorback opens fire with its Assault Cannon. this takes off 3 more wounds and leaves the Tantalus hanging on a precarious 1!

The final gun of the space wolves is another Twin Assault Cannon, doing exactly the one wound needed! The Tantalus is destroyed, but, fortunately, doesn't explode. The 7 Grotesques inside disembark with no casualties and find themselves in front of a Space Wolf armoured line!

Dark Eldar Turn 2

Movement

The Dark Eldar line advances once more, the Tantalus moving to draw a line on the armoured vehicles whilst the grotesques move into the nearby wood. The Taloi move through the ground floor of the ruin, getting close to the edge.

Psychic Phase

The Farseer casts Doom on the landraider, with a double 6 perils. He does 3 wounds to himself and manages to ignore 1. he follows this up with a successful Smite against it for 2 Mortal Wounds.

Shootng Phase

The Tantalus fires on the Landraider with both guns! It gets 10 hits, but fails all 5 of its rerolls to wounds. The land raider then saves 3! This means it only takes 2 more wounds.

The Wracks fire their Liquifiers at the land raider. Embarassingly for the Tantalus these also manage to do 2 wounds.

The Taloi then join in opening up with Liquifiers and Cannons. The liquifiers do another 2 wounds to the Landraider and the Splinter Cannons do 1, reducing the Land Raider to 7 wounds.

Assault Phase

The Grotesques charge the Long Fangs, declaring against both of them and the Lazorback. The 6 Lascannons manage to kill one Grotesque and reduce another to 1 wound. The 8 Krak Missiles miss completely and the bolters fail to wound. The Tantalus charges the Land Raider and the Taloi Charge the Assault Cannon Razorback and Land Raider. Overwatch does nothing.

The Grotesques nearly fail their charge through terrain, only rolling an 8, but with the Reroll for Dark Eldar they get in. The other two charges are easy.

With their 3" pile ins the Grotesques manage to drag the second unit of Long Fangs into combat then attack with 1 Grotesque into the back unit, 1 into the Lazorback and 4 into the front unit of Long Fangs. The back long fnags lose their Wolf Guard in Terminator Armour and a single Long Fang. The Lazorback takes no damage and the centre squads loses their Terminator and 2 of their Long Fangs.

The Tantalus' Scything Charge takes 3 more wounds from the Land Raider then the Dire Scythe Blade ram utterly rips it apart. The Land Raider does not explode and the Blood Claws pile out! Two are killed in the destruction of the vehicles, but 12 survive along with their Wolf Guard battle leader.

The Taloi then attack the Assault Cannon Razorback. They rip into it with their Macro Scalpels (which do 2 damage each!) and deal 14 wounds, destroying it. It doesn't explode and its passengers disembark unharmed.

The Long Fang and Lazorback team manage to kill the wounded Grotesque, bringing the Assault Phase to an end.

Morale Phase

Long Fang Squad 1 rolls a 4 taking no casualties.

Long Fang Squad 2 rolls a 3, staying safe.

The Grotesques roll a 4, also taking no damage.
Spoiler:
Space Wolves Turn 2

Movement Phase

The Grey Hunters in the two remaining Razorbacks pile out and head over towards the Grotesques, whilst the Long Fangs and Lazorback Fall Back. The Grey Hunters with the Wold Guard Battle Leader that exited the destroyed Razorback head over to the Taloi, accompanied by the Wolf Priest and the Bloodclaws.

Shooting Phase

The 2 units of Grey Hunters open up at the Grotesques. The plasma washes over the monsters, but they are inured to pain and simply ignore it, the bolters however tkae out a grotesque and injure another.

The Assault Cannon Razor Back fires into the Grotesques as well, attempting to thin their number before the charge, succesfully killing the wounded Grot and another of his friends.

The blood claws fire 11 pistols and a flamer at the Taloi, only doing a single wound. They are assisted by the nearby Grey Hunters who use their Overcharged plasma, the pain engines are unaffected. bolter shots also rain agcross the monsters, but they are just too tough.

Assault Phase

The Wolf Priest charges the Taloi, who can't overwatch as he isn't closest and easily makes it in, followed by the Wolfguard Battle Leader, Bloodclaws and Grey Hunters.

The two units of Grey Hunters attempt to charge the Grotesques, but one unit fails its charge due to the earlier casualties, rolling a 6 for a 5 inch charge through terrain. So close! The Space Wolf player spends a command point and they make it in.

Combat begins with the Wolf Guard Battle Leader with twin Wolf Claws ripping into the taloi and yelling a battle cry, forcing a single wound onto the monsters.

I then spent 2CP to activate my Taloi and attack the Blood Claws, killing 4.

The rest of the chargers then went, the Wolf Priest landing another wound on the Taloi and the grey hunters managing nothing with their attacks. The blood claws push 3 wounds through against the Pain Engines with their chain swords and the Wolf Guard Terminator manages to put another 3 wounds on them with his thunder hammer, finally bringing a Talos down.

Against the Grotesques the Grey Hunters killed another, leaving them with only one left before the serjeants attacked, doing a single further wound.

The last Grotesque replied, dealing 2 mortal wounds with his flesh gauntlet to the smaller of the squads.

Morale Phase

The Blood Claws passed their Morale check on a reroll from And They Shall Know No Fear.

The Grotesque passed with a mighty 2.
Spoiler:

Dark Eldar Turn 3

Movement

The Wracks leap out of the Tantalus and advance on the Bloodclaws and their allies, whilst the farseer and tantalus move forward a little making the Wolf Guard Battle Leader and Wolf Priest their closest targets, respectively. The Taloi Fall Back.

Psychic Phase

The Farseer Dooms the Blood Claws, using his reroll, then casts Smite on the Wolf Guard Battle Leader, doing 1 Mortal Wound.

Shooting Phase

The first unit of wracks pours Liquifier goo into the Bloodclaws the acid dissolving 5 of the hapless Space Marines. The next squad of wracks Liquifies the remaing Blood Claws, leaving only the Terminator standing. The third unit then turns its attention to the Grey Hunters, killing 4 of them and leaving only the leader with his Power Axe alive.

The Tantalus deals 4 wounds to the Wolf Priest, melting him and also targets the Lazorback, leaving it crippled on only 2 wounds. Meanwhile the Farseer fires his Singing Spear at the Wolf Guard Battle Leader, but fails to penetrate his armour.

Assault Phase

The Wracks all assault the Wolf Guard Battle Leader and the one remaining Grey Hunter.

The first unit of wracks attacks, putting its poison attacks into the Grey Hutner and its Electrocorrosive Whip into the Wolf Guard Battle Leader. they easily kill the remaining Grey Hunter and
deal a further 2 wounds to the Wolf Guard Battle Leader.

The Space Wolf Player spends 2 CP and attacks with his battle leader, only managing to kill 1 Wrack.

The next unit of Wracks then attack, bringing the Battle Leader down in a storm of attacks. They use their Consolidation to draw the Assault Cannon Razorback into combat.

The Grotesque struck against the Space Woves in combat with him, dealing 2 more Mortal Wounds and reducing the small squad to just their leader.

The Wolves then attacked back against the Grotesque, failing to hurt him!

The Assault Cannon Razorback managed to kill a Wrack in combat!

Morale Phase

The Blood Claw Terminator died to Morale.
Spoiler:

Space Wolves Turn 3

Movement

The Assault Cannon Razorback Fell Back.

Shooting

Everything that could shot the Tantalus for a total of 6! Lascannons and a Krak missile. When the dust settled 5 wounds had been caused, for a total of 12 remaining.

Combat

The first Grey Hunter Squad attacked the Grotesque, dealing one wound.

In return he slaughtered the remaining model from the other squad.

Morale Phase

Nope

Spoiler:

At this point the Wolf Player conceded as he was clearly about to be slaughtered anyway. Good game against a friendly opponent. Let me know what you thought.
