Pg 53 of the 8th Rulebook has a fluff section called Terra Retaliates.
The opening gist is that a formation of Custodes are assembled and leave Terra. The rest it almost completely redacted except for the final line which reads "the Emperor of Mankind dead".

Thoughts?
Pure teaser, real or GW just having some fun?

Teaser. It's only one paragraph, and can't be more than two sentences at most.

Full quote has been shown on other sites: "those who would see the master of mankind dead."

Some of the epubs allow for highlighting below the redacted image layer.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

Yeah, he's not dead. Probably wants to be though.

Not according to the dark imperium novel. He's pleased to have one of his tools back.

His idiotic schemes are once again afoot.

Well at the very least I am amused that someone in-universe thinks of Robooty as a tool.

Not really. His sense of duty prevents that. Proof being he chose to be attached to the golden throne. Want being more like "wish horus had never rebelled and it hadn't come to this"

Besides lorgar and mortarian?

@tneva- its quite possible that was just as planned. From the HH novels I'm still not sure Empy isn't the biggest idiot ever, or an utter jack-donkey who allowed thousands of years of death and suffering on purpose

I'm pretty sure Lorgar and Mortarion have far harsher words for him than "tool".

That makes zero sense with the context of the Dark Imperium novel. Roboute is rather obsessing about dear old dad, in very much the present tense of 'what is he up to,' not 'darn it, I feel guilty for choking a corpse'

For anyone who's read the accompanying fluff, it's (to be polite) an inane stance to take. If they haven't read the accompanying fluff, there is zero reason to spitball random ideas.

Someone already undid the black marker, I don't recall the exact wording but it was about the custodes finally leaving Terra to battle "those who would see The Emperor of mankind dead."

It's nothing juicy.

Isn't the Emperor already dead?

In every picture I see of him, his skin and muscles has already completely decayed off to the point that it's just dry bones.

You can say his "mind" is alive and well in the warp
but it seems like his brain, body, and heart have long since become dust.

Body is barely alive and serving as focus point for the soul without which it would dissipate.

If body/soul connection were to be severed for good bye bye astronomicon and thus bye bye IoM.

Astronomicon has a million Psykers working there. The entire idea behind the Astronomicon was never for the Emperor to personally guide the IoM, but to create a system in which to basically automate it.
They basically jury rigged the life support onto it in the last minute.

For all we know, the Emperor has been dead for the last 10k years, and the million joe schmoe Psykers have been keeping up the travels just fine.

But will of the Emperor is needed to _guide_ it. Psykers provide power. Raw power without control is useless.

So sure you can power the astronomicon even if Emperor dies but that would result in useless astronomicon.

I think the paragraph is a throwback to the old Inquisition game. The large scale gw models one. If you recall the first page of that games rulebook, and the ensuing pages, it had some very similar stuff in it. According to that book the Emperor could have been revived right after the battle for Terra, but the High Lords chose not to because they required a figurehead to unite the fractuered Imperium. There was stuff about keeping the Emperor as a deathless god and not allowing anyone access to him, except the Custodes, for this very reason.

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.

or...
The Astronomicon is doing the guiding, and the Emperor is nothing more than decoration.

That's one possibility. Or the Emperor is actually vital to guiding it, and without it the IoM is lost. We don't know, and I don't think anyone would like to take the risk and dismount the Emperor.

I think the lore has presented more than enough characters who would be more than willing to take that risk.

The emperor is like a focusing mirror for the system. He is what sends out the power and light.

The millions who are brought to terra are the power for the system that he acts as the focal point and directs outwards.

He is key to the system but without the black ships it would not work.

I have never once been convinced that he was alive in the first place. The astonomicon has always been nothing more then a glorified sacrificial pyre upon which millions of psykers have been tossed into for the past 10k years. The astronomicon has worked fine before he sat on the throne. I could be wrong but I don't recall the throne being built for the astronomical in the first place. Actually I think the throne was discovered and it's tied to the Web way opening under the palace.

The rest is silly barbaric religious mumbo-jumbo.

There was never an emperor. It's all a bunch of imperial propaganda to help maintain control of their sprawling empire. The High Lords of Terra created the Space Marines, and after their creations rebelled and took half the empire with them, they created a religious figure for Humanity to rally around. Prowler has the right idea. They just strap some random psyker to the Golden Throne and replace him when the body get too decayed to be useful. The Loyalist Primarchs are in on the con. Hell, why do you think the renegades/heretics are always screaming about the "False Emperor"?

If you want to maintain this conclusion, do not read Dark Imperium by Guy Haley. Or at the very least skip any conversation he has with a minostorum priest in that novel.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.
