Dice Hammer is a web page for 40k 8th edition dice statistics: http://www.dice-hammer.com

It features a Toughness-Save chart for easily spotting what damage a unit, or a set of units will do to various targets.

The advantage to this is that you don't have to change values forth and back as you evaluate different options.

It also features a smart damage split at Toughness 4 (changeable), because at some point you're not really interested in multidamage results. After all, a lascannon shot is only ever killing 1 Ork Boy, even if its D6 damage, so damage is capped at 1 damage below this (but doing FnP correctly). (This behaviour can of course be switched off if you really want to do a number on that Ork Boy.)

Important things to know:

Spoiler:

  • You can add more than one "unit"

  • Units can have more than one weapon

  • A "unit" has only one weapon configuration. If you have sergeants etc, add them as a one-man new unit

  • You can add more "armies", eg. new groups of units

  • Use the Ranged/Melee button to toggle between Ranged and Melee calculation

  • You can add more armies and flicker between them to see how they perform

  • It supports any dice notation imaginable, ie 6+D3, D6+2, D8, D6+ (best of 2 D6), D3+ (best of 2 D3), etc. etc.

  • There is another calculation mode: Compare

  • Clicking the Basic button switches to Compare which compares various groups of units and calculates the difference from the best to the second best. Suppose you want to compare Tesla immortals with Gauss immortals. Or Tactical marines with and without rerolling everything.

  • The interface is crowded, but click around and read the help texts and it should be fairly self explanatory



  • Final Notes

    Hopefully it's all click and play, I test mainly with Chrome and would recommend to use that for a comfortable ride.

    Also I come from a Necron players point of view, but I mean for it to cover all of 40k's rules. If it will fit. I happily add new items on request (though I don't have access to all codexes and the rules, so might ask for specific details).

    I tried to improve the contrast some for the numbers and added a 7+ save row for those few who need that too.

    Also now you can add more "armies", or more groups of units. As a necron player, lacking in the AT department, its nice to be able to compare 3 Heavy destroyers to one Doomsday Ark for example.

    New update: A button in top-right corner switches to melee mode, allowing you to easily check how your unit(s) will perform if assaulting after shooting for example.

    Awesome. I really like. I'll make the same request I make of all of these... let me put two weapons on at the same time (maybe one green blues and the other warm tones). I know PC users can do two windows, but in the mobile screens to see two weapons at the same time (either to compare or because you're kitting out a warwalker or a centurion and want to see synergy) would be very useful

    you already can unless i misunderstand

    there is a small "pluss" button to add more weapons to the unit. there is also a "pause" button to temporarily mute a weapon

    (then you can also add more units with its new weapons)

    I attached a screenshot of loadouts of some necron vehicles, a 2 Doomsday Arks and a Stalker, one has 3 weapons, the ohter has 1 but buffs the first with reroll-1s to hit

    Something is very wrong with reroll all to hit, if you put in 2+ to hit you almost double your damage value if you tick the Hit Re.

    Not yet, but I'm adding things continuously, as long as there is room for checkboxes

    Reroll was wrong and is now fixed. (I added extra hits based on hit ratio instead of miss ratio, so BS2+ would result in 5/6 + rerolls based on 5/6 instead of 1/6. And my internal test case for this was based on an BS4+ example where this bug makes no difference)

    Great work man.

    Questions:
    How do you toggle the 7+ save options?
    Is there a way to extend the toughness options? I know there aren't many T1 or T2 units in the game, but Razorwing Flocks especially are often used and are T2. Also several units can have far greater toughnesses than 10, such as Titans which can go up to T16
    I know this is extremely niche and only like 2 weapons in the entire game, but the Necron Tesla effect "Each hit roll of 6+ with this weapon causes 3 hits instead of 1." would be nice

    ALso it seems to be stuck on melee mode, at least on my end

    The tesla option is already there (one of two ranged weapon option at the moment, its located in the weapon panel, on the right part of each weapon bar)

    There is a button in the top right that toggles the 7+ row.

    I'll think of a way to include customizable T-scale , its mostly a problem with not clogging the user interface too much

    I thought I had seen it. The problem is I can't switch to shooting mode. It's stuck on melee. I am a moron it's my extensions

    Yes, but they happen before damage dice is rolled. I don't know if the app is doing such rolls before or after the damage roll is considered

    You roll FnP-like rolls after damage rolls, ie 'saving' each point of damage, was my understanding. That's how it's implemented. Easily checked by inspecting damage outputs with and without 4+ FnP

    That option is missing, it's the next thing up.

    For now you could give it assault 7 and let the model have BS 4+, that should result in 3.5 hits on average, which D6 hits is.

    Or otherwise do some napkin math to set equivalent stats. Till it gets up.

    Melta option on weapons has been added.

    The weapon options is growing out of hand, ill show only the ost relevant one and put in a simple panel to unfold them all.

    With the default numbers or a certain combination of parameters?

    Note - the the numbers shown are average damage, not percentages
