Another 2k pts list.

Logan chill with his wolf guard in the redeemer. Rhinos and redeemer deploy in cover and rush in frontline, rhino pop up smokes in first turn while advancing while raider shoot all he can at what he can.

Preds deploy in cover same goes for the dread, dread cover any advancing squads from reaching the preds to CC.

Any toughts?

Looks pretty good. I prefer plasma over melta but that is just personal preference. The same goes for the Redeemer. The Crusader is more flexible IMO and puts out a lot of dakka.

Agreed. Crusaders just spit out so many shots, they can rip most infantry apart fairly handily.

Yeah I'm still between melta and plasma for my own liking, at least theres 2 plasma pistols in the squad to get that fancy plasma aftertaste!

I played a redeemer last game against nids; it was charged by his hive tyrant, the poor lad was roasted to a crisp before he could even get to the tank! (I rolled two 6 on overwatch)

P.S.: Why does battlescribe insist that I have 1 too many choices of logan grimnar (maximum 0)?

That's a pretty good result against the hive tyrant but it probably won't be a typical result unless you're one of those lucky folks who roll sixes all the time! Me, I have to rely on statistics and you get better odds with the Crusader.

As far as the issue with Battlescribe, maybe you need to update? I made a list earlier today with Logan and I did not have any errors.

Hello again!

I've got squashed by a swarm of bugs yesterday! My opponent played 40 genestealer, 30 gargoyles, 20 hormagaunts, 3 venomthropes, 2 exocrines, the swarmlord with 6 tyrant guard and a broodlord.

Took care of the venomtrhope, damaged one exocrine and the swarmlord on turn 1. Got charged on the second turn, held on until end of turn 3, got smashed in turn 4. My list wasn't constructed to face such a swarm of fast moving infantry.

Here's a tought:

What do you think? Is it enough?

Preds should take care of the swarmlord or exocrine/any other vehicules. Whirlwinds should reduce the blob of massive infantry. Razorback should finish the rest.

Should I switch one of the Wolf guard battle leader for a wolf priest?

Have you thought about taking a unit of:

Wolf Guard on bikes w/ Stormbolters and Storm Shields. You can even throw in an odd Thunder Hammer if you're so inclined.

To maximize the damage potential of this unit, you can run a Wolf Lord on a bike or TWC nearby as well as a WGBL on a bike.

So a unit consisting of a WL on a Bike and a WGBL on a bike along with five WG on bikes w/ SB&SS is going to put out 24 shots at 24", or 48 shots at 12". Rerolling 1's to hit thanks to the WL and rerolling 1's to wound thanks to the WGBL.

This unit is also very survivable since everyone's got a 3++.

This should help you to deal with some of your fast horde problems while maintaining your movement flexibility through the speed of the bikes.

Anyway just a thought. Good Luck.

Run Predator autocannons on those Predators instead of gearing them up with nothing but lascannons. You'll be able to shred through big hordes of infantry much more effectively.

Seconding the WG Bikers with bolters. Toss on shields, storm bolters, and give the leader a hammer.

Yep, that looks pretty tough.

Personally I'm not a fan of Whirlwinds, but I understand their usefulness considering your opponents list.

I'm not sure how the new Nids psychic powers work, but have you considered trying to fit a Rune Priest into your list to try and shutdown some of their buffs?

I know JotWW and Smite won't be much help against your opponents list you posted, but having the chance to disrupt your opponents plans might be worth squeezing one in.

Just looking at your list, I'd say drop one of the Whirlwinds or the Predator w/ AC,HB.

These units will most likely be sitting still toward your board edge, shooting and not moving, maximizing their firepower potential.

You've also got a ton of anti-horde firepower in the three Razorbacks that will have to move to mid-field in order to capitalize on their range.

That gives you six armored units sitting to the rear while three move up relatively unsupported.

A Rune Priest on a bike w/ a Runic Sword and Stormbolter clocks in at 125.

This combo will allow you to run him near your other bikes to use them as a shield while also giving you the ability to move him where needed most, or to get out of trouble, rather quickly. He'll also lend another four shots at 24" and eight at 12" to whatever you might decide to engage.

You might also consider the using the Stormcaller power as every Space Wolf unit within 6" gains the benefit of cover. Can we say Bikes, or Razorbacks with a 2+ save against shooting. I think however that the Tempest Wrath power might actually serve your list better. It only targets one enemy unit, but the -1 to their hit rolls lasts until the beginning of your next Psychic Phase. So they are affected through your fight phase, their shooting phase, and their fight phase. Used in conjunction with a timely assault from a unit, or three, of Blood Claws will give you an edge for two rounds of fighting.

You've got a good list going. It may not 100% my particular playing style, and that's alright. One of the best parts of this game is, to play what you like; now more so with 8th Edition upon us.

There doesn't seem to be one list build that is going to absolutely dominate everyone else. Although the meta has shifted, it seems as though if something is undercosted or broken they'll be taking care of it pretty quickly through an FAQ.

Best of luck.

Getting charged first turn is going to be hard to deal with any way you swing it.

You might try dropping the Spearhead Detachment (keeping the Predator and rolling it into your Battalion).

The points from the two Whirlwinds and the Iron Priest are only five points shy of running two more units of Blood Claws in Razorbacks w/ Twin Assault Cannons. That's more boots on the ground for objectives and an additional 24 shots from the Razorbacks.

You could also drop the entire Spearhead and use the points to put another two units of WG Bikes on the field. These can sit back and basically become a QRF to wherever the biggest threat is, or run all three units of bikes near the WL/WGBL and see what happens when you're rerolling between 60 and 120 dice.

I'd suggest Long Fangs, but I really don't see them getting to fire more than one turn effectively against bugs. It's just the nature of the beast as it were.

Also remember that the rerolling of 1's from the WL affects overwatch and CC too. so if you think you're about to get charged and can get your WL in range of your units it will help to thin the incoming models a bit.

If you end up going with five Razorbacks, you could try and work Logan Grimnar into your list and put him in the middle of the parking lot. This would allow you to reroll all of your hit dice. He's just kind of pricey for my tastes.

I've used a couple of cheap units of Fenrisian Wolves to help push back how close deepstriking/infiltrating units can deploy to what's important. They're an expendable unit that can be used to bubble wrap or speed bump your opponent. He charges your wolves in his turn, they die or run away in your turn, you get another round to shoot him off the board before he assaults the important stuff.

Anyway just some more things to think through I guess. Nids are pretty tough this go around. Good luck!

The nid player who won last round suggested i split my force in deployment: How do you suggest I should distribute my army?

To be honest.

I usually try to split my opponents forces so I can focus in on isolated pieces of his army, while negating the full weight of his forces.

With the way deployment goes now (you place / I place), it's going to be hard to run a refused flank, because your opponent will always be able to counter deploy.

Looking at your list now, you've got one good meat shield unit. I would use them and the range of your guns to their full potential during deployment. Anything that you absolutely want to avoid being charged first turn goes behind the Wolves. Everything else needs to be fast in order to redeploy.

Since we're Wolves let's be cunning like a Wolf.

You may set up your parking lot behind the Fenrisian Wolves toward one side of the board, with the Bikers toward the other flank in order to force your opponent to counter deploy. On your first turn use the Bikes speed to move them over to the rest of your army. Thereby leaving part of your opponents army stranded on a flank that isn't seeing any action for a turn or two until he can redeploy. this will give you a chance to focus on one part of his army at a time, and anytime you can stack the odds in your favor it's a good thing.

If by some chance he doesn't take the bait, ignores the Bikes, and focuses on the bulk of your forces, then your Bikes will have free reign to move up and down his flank causes mayhem and chaos with a ton of rerollable shots!

Not trying to tell you what you need to do, rather just offering some tactical advice to a fellow Son of Russ! Best of Luck!
