My wife has expressed interest in playing AoS with me and also expressed interest in the Wood Elves faction.
I was going to make a basic 1000pt force for her to play agsint a 1000pt High Elf force I'd previously made.

This is what I was thinking:

HQ:
Spellweaver 100
WayWatcher 100

Battle Line:
10 Glade Guard 120
10 Glade Guard 120
10 Glade Guard 120

Troops:
10 Eternal Guard 80
10 Eternal Guard 80
10 Sisters of the Watch 240

Total : 960

Do you think this is a balanced introductory force for a new player? I wanted to make something that would have some magic, some ranged, some special abilities, and just give a good overview of all the basics of playing the game...

Hi Hunter,

Not sure how much help I can be without seeing the HE list, but it seems like you've got a pretty solid tutorial army. Let's run down that list:

- Magic User = check
- anvil unit/units = check
- cover mechanics = check
- command abilities = check
- super special abilities by the rank-and-file = check

The only things I would say might be missing would be any Wild Riders or other cavalry/fast movers to provide a more traditional introduction to the charge phase (and units that benefit from charging). I would also mention things like monsters and artillery but last time I checked the Wanderers weren't going to be receiving any such additions in the near future.

Do let us know how this works out (and what the Highborn are bringing to the table )

The High Elves are as follows:

1x High Elf Noble on Horse with Polearm and Shield (100)
1x High Elf Archmage (120)

5 x Silver Helms (140)
5 x Reavers (160)
5 x Reavers (160)
10 x Spire Guard (120)
10 x Sword Masters (200)

-EDIT-
I wanted to work Sisters of the Thorn or Wild Riders into her list, but the model kit is currently "sold out" online :( (I'm hoping they're getting a rebox...)

-Edit 2-
I just checked, they DID rebox them! Back in stock with the right bases now!
