Joke title, but would it make sense for a dying Craftworld to stop giving a toss about asceticism and bring out some of their ancient ornate armours and alternative weaponry - similar to some of the stuff the DEldar use?

I'm trying to think of a way to explain the occurrence of Kabalite Warriors in a Craftworld list through the fluff.
Personally, I disagree with the current CWE army design philosophy where you mostly just select which units you want to sacrifice at close range to complete an objective. It makes more sense to me for Eldar to be cowardly so-and-so's that sit out at max range playing keepaway with the enemy. Guardians and the like don't really do that properly, especially not compared to Kabalite Warriors, who have 24" range standard guns.

Well, that's how I play it. I keep my guardians in wave serpents, and run around shooting. When it's time that the Guardians become useful, they'll jump out, mow someone down, grab the objective and hunker down. They never just chill out in the open waiting for the scythe to come harvest them.

Neither DE or CWE use their 'old' weaponry. Before the fall the Eldar had some sort of sentient battle robots that protected them. They didnt need weaponry and didnt engage in battle.
After the fall, CWE started using psykic construction to make all sorts of weaponry for the new need. DE on the other hand, cannot use psykic powers in Commorgrah. Instead they have billions of slaves that work in massive factories to manufacture weapons of a new design. The tech level is the same, but the method of making them wouldn't make any sense prefall; there was no need to not use psykic construction and no army of slaves.

So CWE wouldnt be using old gear to look like DE. But they could still be using it. Coursairs trade in both types of weaponry.
Your craftworld could have all sorts of reasons to trade for more DE weaponry. Maybe they are on good terms with a Kabal. Maybe they are on short supply of psykic manufacturing. Again maybe they just like the aestetics/battle style.

The current theme for my Craftworld is that it got hit by the Cicatrix Maledicum as it spawned, and permanently broke its Avatar of Khaine, making the will of Khaine manifest uncontrollably in parts of the Eldar population, resulting in massive internal conflict and a suicidal need to expend that energy in war.

Trading with Kabals and Corsairs for spare kit sounds like a good solution to a supply problem... Perhaps the Bonesingers are having trouble...

Maybe all the bonesingers are dead
Maybe all the bonesingers are busy fixing the craftworld
Maybe all the bonesingers are pacifists

I like both of these. I'll take a mix, especially given that Bonesinngers are needed for darn near everything and good ones take centuries to train.

I'm using my Dark Eldar guys alongside craftworlders as Mercernaries. Ulthwé want a dirty job done, so they've hired some meth heads from Commoragh.

Speaking of DE kit: not a huge fan of the base kit so looking to kitbash some Shining Spears. The problem is the helms. Elven cavalry is all open-faced, and the forgeworld corsair kits are a bit pricy. Can't really tell from the photos, so are Kabalite helms close enough to the craftworld aesthetic if I de-spike them, or would they stand out a bit too much?
