Ever since GW re-released Dreadfleet, the minis guy at my FLGS has been saying that Battlefleet Gothic would be returning soon as well.

It's been years and I haven't seen or heard anything besides the Battlefleet Gothic: Armada video game. Watching some people on YouTube play that game, I really want to try the tabletop game. (And let's face it, the Chaos ships are expensive on eBay ATM and I want the prices to go down).

Is Battlefleet Gothic going to get a reprint? If so, about when should I expect it? Was Armada a way for GW to get out of reprinting the tabletop game?

Nobody knows. People heard rumors of 'Battlefleet Heresy', but nothing concrete.

Even if BFG comes back, it needs proper support and a few rules tweaks. Some factions were 'too different' and resulted in a negative play experience, most notably Eldar and Necrons.

Eldar in particular (which I played) had a horrible effect in the game of either they auto-won vs your faction (vs tyranids, orks, Imperials, marines), or auto-lost (vs chaos, necrons), because their mechanics stomped over certain racial traits, but were ultra vulnerable to others.

I think it will come back someday, but not soon.

GW has to much on their plate right now, and BFG is likely going to have to wait till after Titanicus.

I went from Netepic and EA to Dropzone Commander

I went from a 0 player BFG group where we had to china order or eBay everything to a 12 player Dropfleet Commander local area

Go check out other games. Firestorm armada isn't half bad either!

Still have to paint my Dropfleet Commander stuff and start a group going here...

I have plenty of games I'm collecting for (my poor, poor wallet), and thus plenty of games to turn to. I just started collecting ships for Battlefleet Gothic because of the Armada computer game, my getting back into 40k (being one who mostly collects Spaceships, I thought it thematic to get a fleet for the 40k army), and the FLGS guy saying that BFG would be coming back soon and that whenever it's been re-released in the past, it's been semi-popular in the area.

In case GW never shows up and you like a better Eldar experience just go with the Eldar MMS rules.
Yes fan rules, but if may improve the fun so why not give it a try?

The rules are still out there and there are a few companies out there making some really impressive proxies. No need to wait for GW/FW.

Vanguard Miniatures have some cool escorts.

They've also taken over the Battlegroup Helios line. Expect the cruisers to be back soon.

As a stop-gap, have a go at BFG: Leviathan for your mobile - it's pretty much a direct port of the game and was single-handedly responsible for me getting back into it.

Now, if I could just work out how to emulate it on my PC...
