So, I picked up a copy of Scrappers on a whim, and I think it would be a fun game if only it had a FAQ online or an index. I spent a lot of time flipping back and forth answering my own questions, but these tow remain:

1) What, exactly is the Commander Trait? What does it do, apart from take up a Trait slot for that model?

2) How many action tokens do you get each turn? I assume it's one per model, but one does like to be sure.

I had a gift card and my main gaming buddy said Scrappers sounded like a game we'd like (we're in a long Frostgrave campaign). I agree that this thing needs a quick reference sheet like nobody's business.

Really not a fan of the multiple "checks" that each have a different approach. Seems like there are too many conditions to remember and check for. The fact that youtube videos take a long time to even go over a basic turn is not encouraging.

There are a couple of PDF with all the charts on the Osprey Games website, so that should help. I think the game suffers from the same problem as Rogue Stars-- character design is super fiddly. I wish they gave some starting profiles that you just add equipment to. I imagine it goes faster once you are used to it. I wonder if Zero Dark will be any better...

I saw a demo of this game and was immediately turned off from it when I saw one of the players lose on the first turn due to a failed morale check.

Well, that's discouraging. I guess the quest for the perfect Post-Apoc game will continue.

Is it losing on the first turn that's the problem, or doing so due to morale?

Well if you have a FB, the creator of scrappers is fairly active in the group.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/107169383140215/

That's the official scrappers group. It has a FAQ that is up to date since July 11th.

As for first turn loss of morale, ive played a few games and that has never been a problem. That's not a issue with the game either. Only way that happens is if you loose a ton of models. Like most of your guys turn 1. So seems to be a player problem, not a game problem.

As for best post apoc game, that's easily Dark Age.

You can go to either Osprey Games reference site or to our website at http://www.brinkofbattle.com/ in the Downloads tab and find everything you are asking for in the Scrappers section, like the official errata, quick reference sheets, Crew manifests, etc.

You get a number of Action Tokens each Turn equal to the Command Rating of your Commander model. This same number is used throughout the entire game, even if your commander later is wounded and removed from play. Whenever you have The Edge, you add 3 Action Tokens to your number for that turn.

As with all games that introduce mechanics that are new or different, there is a bit of a learning curve. That disappears as you play.

I'm very upfront in the videos that I'm no good at it. Please don't misjudge the game based on my poor videography. We'll be filming a game this weekend and you will see how play is between two players that are comfortable with the rules. That should give you a better idea of how it plays. I explain everything in the current videos, and that's why it takes longer. We will just be playing without explanation in the new one.

We give a detailed tutorial in the rulebook on how to build your Crew. I will be doing a video in the near future to show how that works. It's not as fiddly as it first seems.

I promise you that the demo you saw wasn't being played correctly, or the player walked out in the open and got his ass shot off. There is no mechanical way that you can outright lose in the first turn, unless you are either not using the rules correctly, or are really stuck in a mindset from other games that let you walk out in the open in a gunfight and live....

In every instance reported to me by players that something drastic happened in the first turn, it has always, after my further questioning, been due to a rule not being used correctly. Once that gets cleared up things are fine with players from there.
