Anyone playing it? Thoughts on it? Think it could spark other classics like Spyro being brought back?
I'm currently on 88% complete for the first game. I managed to acquire several of the coloured gems (I was so so happy after getting the green one from The Lost City) but the all important yellow one from The Lab still eludes me. In terms of graphics and sounds the game is absolutely beautiful. Modern high def graphics yet it still looks and feels like the originals. There was the hitbox issue (no way was I that bad at it the first time around!) but once you know how it works it's no biggie. In fact, it can work to your advantage, allowing you to catapult yourself off a ledge for greater reach.

I played through the third game, as it was my favourite.
Bejebus the first game is just as hard as I remember.

Yeah I would say that the third one is the best overall, because it's the most varied and because it's the most lenient. Not easy, but lenient. The first one is a bitch! Slippery Climb? Jesus!
Having said that I still enjoy it though. And once I get that red gem I'll have finally achieved 100% on it, 20 years after first starting.

Having played all 3 games both on the original hardware as a kid and emulated as an adult, I will say they are by no means perfect but damn are they good platformers.
The schadenfreude of so-called games "journalists" crying about the difficulty is intoxicating.

I know right? Who was the balloon who also criticised it for feeling too old fashioned?
My latest update, the elusive red gem still...eludes me. I will get it one day. I was so close too but I fethed up my timing jumping on the last of those birds in slippery climb and I fell straight down the gap. I know I can do it with practice and a small bit of luck.

I've done it!. 100%! I conquered slippery climb and then I conquered the wumpa islands!
Truth be told, I've still got 6 time trail relics to collect so it's not a perfect 100%, but I'll get them one day.

Isn't that the insanely difficult level that was too hard to make it into the game? Slippery Climbs evil twin level?

That's the one. 4 times as long apparently.

Apparently the reason it is out a bit later is because the original level was so hard, it took a very long time for anyone at vicarious visions to complete it so they could start making it in the new engine.
All the source codes for the first game were lost apparently.
I've tried it once, it ain't easy. But I haven't even finished slippery climb yet.

Apparently the hitboxes are changed from the original game and it's throwing a lot of people off.

It has been tweenty years. Even if they had them could they really use them? I figured that they'd be too outdated to run on modern software.

I will admit, it has caught me plenty of times. I never slipped off things playing the original. But it's not all bad news. The new pill shaped hitboxes allow you to sort of catapult yourself off a ledge.
