Nothing fancy, and very limited range of paints but I think they came out just fine.

40k is as exciting as riding a pony, which doesn't sound very exciting.......

But the pony is 300 feet tall and covered in CHAINSAWS!

They look good. They're really washed-out looking but that may just be the use of grey. The bases also kind of blend in with the minis - so overall it's a very grey/faded appearance. A lot of that could be the camera.

The paint work itself looks crisp and well done though.

Thanks, yeah in person I feel the camera doesn't do them any justice. The bases do blend in to the model..i used the same color grey with some washes and drybrushing. The only store nearby is a comic book store and they've been out of almost all their paints for months! lol it takes a long time to get solid black trim or the gun with black ink. The only red they had was extremely opaque. Once I get back home in a month i'll probably redo the bases to make them different.

You can use inexpensive acrylic craft paints on the bases. I would do a brown and orange to do rusted bases. I think it would give a nice contrast to your armor color scheme.

I really like them. The one thing I think it needs like others have said is something on the base to give it more contrast and frame the miniature.
Since you have red, maybe tone the base in a complementary color to red and dark since the miniature is light, I find basing that way works wonders. Maybe very dark blue, or a deep orange.

This made me want to paint some with one arm colored like you did. Think I might do black and green.

Never heard of Dusk raiders, thought kinda like a crimson fist but the whole arm and I liked the grey main armor. Was thinking [of calling them] something like Sons of Mars since they were made on mars.

Yeah the bases do need different color, i will mess with that. Maybe a whitish cement type color. I play on cities of death tables so there's only so many colors that would fit.

Just googled Dusk raiders and yeah mine are really similar. Just the other arm is red. Pretty funny.

Nifty use of colors! i like that red is not too glaring, it accents the grey well that way

realism is a lie
