Finished my second Sanguinary Guard squad today (except I forgot to do the soot around the jump pack jets – doh!).

Converted using Forge World torsos, helmets and shoulder pads. First time painting power weapons and jump pack jets by hand – let me know what you think!

Really nice burnished colour to the gold, and the models have a very gritty look to them which is of course suitable to the context. Great job.

Superb work LutherMax: I much prefer these as they are considerably understated compared to the normal ones.

Inspiration for a potential unit of my own me-thinks!

Fantastic work! Love the painting and modeling.

Might have to steal the modeling/cpnversion style.

Especially the gold. How did you achieve it?

Lovely jubbly, very similar to what I plan to do with mine, but executed with a much higher degree of skill!

I would like to echo the above comment, how did you do the gold? Great stuff.

Hello LutherMax, Your Sanguinary Guard are ornate & well painted.

I like that You chose to go without the wings on the jump packs as is brings focus to the main models & weapons.

The blending You did on the power weapons is great! You made mention that You painted the weapons by hand.

I think it is great craftsmanship to be able to achieve an air-brush style effect with careful technical brush work.

The use of the color white on the helmets is unique. It makes the squad look more elite.

I am not a fan of gold. However the gold on these looks perfect. Not too loud, and looks battleworn.

Thanks for the comments all - I really appreciate it.

For the gold I basecoated the models with Forge World Castellax Gold, then drybrushed everything but the underside of the models with Rub n' Buff Gold Leaf. Then I shaded with Sepia ink thinned with gloss varnish, and highlighted with Vallejo Metal Medium.
