When looking at Tenebrael Shard model from silver tower, it kind of looks like he is jumping out of water on a octopus, I am thinking his base should have water on it instead of sand.
Also his skin is really pale so he probably get no sunlight under water.
Anybody else think they kind of tries to make a polar opposite with kharadron overlords?
kharadron overlords = up in the sky
elves = under water?

They've been hinting that the next elves will have some Cthulhu theme.

I wouldn't be too surprised, the dark elves have always had strong ties to the sea. Be it with piracy or harnessing the horrifying leviathans beneath the waves.

The sorceress from ST also used mists with her magic alongside shadows and madness, that could hint at control over water.

It would help with being polar-opposites to the Overlords.

Dwarfs/elves

Sky/Sea

Sunlight/Shadows

Steampunk/Lovecraft (mind you, these aren't opposites so much as always opposed to one another)

No.

He's really pale because he's from the Realm of Shadows. His name even makes a reference to it.
"Tenebrae" is the Latin word for darkness.

From what we have about the Realm of Shadows, there are monsters dwelling within the mists and the scenery is...not pleasant.

Oh cool, I didn't know about the Latin meaning. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yeah the ST sorceress doesn't plant her feet on the floor either, kind of looks like she is emerging from the water too. But on a mist.

There was some art in the KO army book with them getting attacked by a monster with huge tentacles iirc.

Perhaps this shadow aelf faction will take the old Dark Elf monsters like the hydra/kharibdyss and dial it up another notch.

Well, she's called a Mistweaver...

Worth mentioning that this is not the first time we've had Elf mages that specialize in mist magics. The "Lothern Shore Patrol" list during Storm of Chaos had Mist Mages that could call veil the battlefield in mists or potentially call forth Merwyrms from the deeps.

Yeah...it's a massive Kharadron airship getting attacked by the monster. The ship, if I remember that piece of art right, has Ironclads as escorts.

I'm not sure about you but I'm not down for buying a monster kit that would just be tentacles on a base.

I believe that was revealed as just a sky kraken and native creature of their realm rather than any connection to the Shadowkin.

Who knows though? They might have some connection to them in the future like Overlords selling them younglings to raise as warbeasts.

I'm not trying to tell you that you're late on the party or whatever but yes. It's been more than hinted, it was borderline leaked from insiders. The next Aelf faction is water themed. At least two of the current rumor engines are from them (the water-leech-dragon thing on an arm, and the recent spikey tentacle.)

We also have the face from Shadespire.

What remains to be determined is if this water theme is actual water or clouds. Because in the KO book, we can see barnacles on flying ships, tentacles coming out of clouds, flying monsters that look very water monster like, and they have a lot of sailing imagery on their flying boats, instead of, for example, birds, suns, etc.

So, there is a chance that those water Aelves will actually be sky, and specifically, cloud Aelves.

To be honest this weird Aelf faction is what i'm looking forward to most from GW. I want them to get this 40k phase over with so we can see these dudes. I've been getting bored the past couple months. The rumor engine of the arm with the winged thingy is already from march...some time ago. Wonder what kind of bizarre things this release holds, flying nautilus riders?

I wouldn't expect them to be all that weird, if I'm going to be honest.

The Realm of Shadows is where we keep getting hints at being the first of the Aelf releases. GW has more or less confirmed that the next campaign book arc for AoS will deal with the followers of Slaanesh trying to free it from the Shadowkin that are keeping it imprisoned in the Realm of Shadow.

Yeah, with tentacles and all that icky stuff. If GW doesn´t pay attention, the new elf girls might end up with tentacles in all the wrong places. Then they can give the Daemonettes a run for their money.

Well, if Slaanesh is trapped in the same real, thats bound to have consequences. :p
