The idea: Webway portal carrying Hornets that 'count as' Wave Serpents.

I have 2 Hornets, but am kinda disappointed with their rules. Wave Serpents on the other, are awesome and I might want some 2 more and some Wraith guard to put in them
I miss my WWP Archon delivery system, but think I have a fun solution

I was thinking of using the Dark Eldar Raider Keels as fins to extend the hull for measurement purposes.
The Hornet is the same length as a Serpent (about 7") and at its widest (the side fins) is the same width (5"). I'd just need to make it as wide for the rest of the model
Fluffwise the embarked unit isn't physically in the tank, but is on the other side of the portal, Necron Night Scythe style, so they don't need to look as bulky as a Serpent.

What could I use as the portal? Bits order the Night Scythe portal? Or something more Aeldari?
I really want this to work so any suggestions are welcome

What do you guys think about using the DE Cronos Spirit vortex bit as the WWP?
I'd mount it at the rear, just like the doors of a Serpent

Usually, I've seen webway portals modelled using the grenade 3" diameter, 1.5" radius hemisphere. I think rather than limit the size of the protal on the rear hull of the Hornet, why not do somethink like a projected portal? Add some fins that protude and look a bit Eldar - carved from Plasticard and sanded round if needed - and use a disc with a swirl made with hot glue or pva glue as the portal itself.

That would look really cool, but I am afraid it would not fit the dimension of a Serpent, which is the main goal
I should have said I want to represent the "portal projector device" or something similar, which is what I was thinking for the Spirit vortex. Not the Portal itself, but the projector only

However, I do actually have 2 half-sphere portals that I once used as portals back when GW released them. They've lived a sad dust-covered existence since then.
My Hornets are already magnetize to their base, so it would be easy to put a magnet on those portals and just have them hovering above the portal instead of a base

Thanks for the feedback! I don't know why I didn't think about actually modeling the portal instead of just the projector.
Man, I am excited about this

Maybe stick a fin or arch in the back, and fill with a water effects sheet.

Agreed. Eldar portals strike me as something like stargates that open a portal and anything of appropriate size will fit through, whereas a Night Scythe's beam is more akin to a Wraith fighter's beam. /Stargate reference

I'd go with two fins of appropriate length than can open a portal between the tips. It's sleek, fits Eldar style and if you mount them on the back they won't look dissimilar to Eldar ships.

Nehekhara lives! Sort of!
Why is the rum always gone?
