Subject: [1000] - Chaos - Two CSM lists - need help
I'm going to take part in a tournament at local store. I have two lists and can't choose which to use. Which looks more solid? Any comments are welcomed! My CSM collection is quite numerous, so suggest any substitutions.

Chaos Lord [109pts]: Combi-plasma, Power fist

Khorne Berzerkers [218pts]: Icon of Wrath, 9x Khorne Berzerker, 2x Swap bolt pistol for plasma pistol, 7x Swap bolt pistol or chainsword for chainaxe
. Berzerker Champion: Plasma pistol, Power fist

Havocs [131pts]: 6x Havoc, 4x Heavy bolter
. Aspiring Champion: Bolt pistol, Boltgun
i would say the 1st one, i would just give lightnining claw x2 to berserker champion.

The first list. Defilers are utter trash in this edition (they weren't great before), so, I definitely wouldn't take one to a tournament. As blackmage said, give your berzerker champion lightning claws to take full advantage of their fighting twice.

Thank you very much for your advices! I'll try dual-LCw Berzerker Champion. What do you think about the number of models in the Havocs squads? Maybe I should reduce them to 5-men and take another squad with Heavy Bolters? Like this:

for me right number is 6, still cheap and with some ablative wounds b4 you start lost heavy weapon, i think 3 havocs squads would be enough, if you keep Lord close to them they re roll 1 and that's is strong. A good option for havocs is a chaos bastion with 4 HB put one of your havocs squads there and you are safe from enemy fire until they destroy the bastion and you get 4 estra HB.

Yesterday I've participated in that tournament. Played three games and took to 7th place of 14. Right in the middle, huh. I’m eager to share some impressions of my roster. I chose this one:

Chaos Lord [109pts]: Combi-plasma, Power fist
The first battle I fought against Ultramarines. They had 2 Captains, Scouts, full-Las Pred, ML Devastators, ThunderCannon and 3 Centurions. I’ve killed them all. Centurions vanished first, then I lost almost all my Berzerkers. Scouts, Devastators and Captains were next to abandon the table. My last Berzerkers and plasmagunners followed them. And in the end my Lord finished the Techmarine.
The second game I played against Tau. By the way, that guy won the tournament. He had a thing that still enrages me: XV109 Y’vahra. 14W flying monster that drowned me in the buckets of dice! It ate more than one unit per turn and shrugged away all the damage I tried to deal it. I’ve killed a couple of pathfinders squads, one deepstriking suit (don’t know how is it called) and left Shadowsun with one wound. And he have decimated my army in four turns.
The third battle was the most exciting. Forces of Imperium: Celestine, Astropaths, Primaris Psyker, Priest, some more characters, several squads of sisters, four with heavy bolters, two squads of crusaders, two squads of assassins, two Rhinos, Deathwatch bikes, acolytes for objective camping. Maybe something else – there was a lot of models! I killed almost all the threats. Only characters and an Acolyte left. On my side much more were still alive: Lord, 2 lascannons, 6 heavy bolters, 2 plasmagunners and a Rhino. However, the game ended after the 5th turn and my opponent won by victory points 14/8. We both enjoyed the game because it wasn’t easy and straightforward!
My army list works well. I still don’t know how to deal with Y’vahra (damn Forgeworld!!!), but I can’t imagine any other take-all-comers CSM list that would succeed. I watched several other games during the tournament and in most cases I had an idea of how to fight against these armies. So I’m going to paint these models well and try them in more games.
