In the latest post from Warhammer Community they show a picture of a Black Dragon that is a Parimaris marine. So this "kind" of shows even THEY got reinforcements even though they are largely shunned. My question is, would Primaris marines of Black Dragons have their bone "scythes" and growths or just being completely regular Primaris using their colors?

Considering that the Primaris Geneseed has been 'purified' they would likely just be standard Primaris in Black Dragon colors.

I doubt they would have bone scythes to be honest, since their geneseed isn't Black Dragon geneseed that as we know is corrupt, but rather just a First Founding geneseed. I wouldn't stop you from giving them bone fist claws, having them instead of Primaris Reivers would be amazing!

What about any Black Dragons that chose to undergo the process of becoming a Primaris themselves? Would that cleanse the flaw or keep it once they became a Primaris?

I was under the impression its still not confirmed whether normal Marines can chose to be elevated to Primaris.

"Guilliman is also providing every chapter with the ability to make Primaris Marines of their own, so future generations will be fully immersed in their respective chapters. Regular Marines can also be upgraded to Primaris, which will help with preventing the loss of beloved characters." And apparently GW mentioned it during a Facebook stream =O

I'd heard that, but it hasn't been mentioned again since, hence, unconfirmed.

Thats not really how things work, but if you want to treat it as such fine. I'll continue calling it unconfirmed. Would hardly be the first time GW has been wrong about their own stuff.

It really is. If you accept retcon by omission then everything would need to be reprinted every time something new was mentioned.
They're at liberty to change their mind, but it's confirmed until they do so.

I think most have accepted that the chapters can turn regular marines into Primaris, it's been talked about by people a lot now. I don't see why they couldn't do this.

But it is canon, GW have told us. It wasn't even briefly touched upon, we got to see Andy Smille think of new plots for his next Flesh Tearers book.

Black Dragons are gonna be able to do their own Primaris Marines. So maybe the first batch from Mars don't have the bone blades but the rest done by the own Black Dragons with their own geneseed is gonna have it.

There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I've come up with some possible options for my army then:
1. The Black Dragons found the plans or instructions to "upgrade" their marines into Primaris through unconventional means, so their process may not have been perfect which led their flaw to go through.
2. Some ARE reinforcements but Primaris marines made from upgrading regular marines into Primaris can sometimes lead to flaws being carried over (for all chapters/geneseeds).
3. I give up Black Dragons and just make a Blood Angels successor that's black with red accents/eyes.
I just don't want to convert a bunch of my Primaris models to have Black Dragon bone growths if in a couple months GW says "Oh, we decided no Primaris marines can possibly have the flaws.

the SAFE option is just don't convert em to have the bone growths.
the fun option is "do what you wanna and if GW says otherwise screw em these are YOUR guys"

One option you may not have considered is that they had them surgically added or are armor modifications to honor the chapter.

Afaik not all black dragons have those growths anyway, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

This would be a cool way to model them and have them fit in yet stand out; where regular Black Dragons have actual growths, Primaris Black Dragons could have small blades mounted to their wrists or helmets, painted as regular weapons rather than bone. It allows them to use them in combat as Black Dragons are presumably used to doing/training for, while preserving the more pure gene-seed.

Brilliant! I hadn't thought of that at all, usernamesareannoying and Paradigm. Thanks.
I think I'll have them do just that, the Primaris marines added them to help join their culture and not be viewed as such outsiders. I know that is an issue I've read in the lore, that Primaris marines may be viewed in negative ways due to them not being truly from the chapters they've been sent out to help.
Then, if they DO say Primaris Black Dragons have the bone growth flaws, this way makes it safe for that as well.
Thanks all!

It is worth noting that the GW site had some painted up Salamanders with jet black skin, so some of that stuff is making it through.

Well, it's a genetic reaction to the high radiation levels of their homeworld. So either the Primaris process doesn't fix stuff like that (if that guy was an older marine) or it imposes it on the newbies if he is from a new batch.
