I'm slowly building up a Death Korps of Krieg army and haven't quite gotten used to grenadiers just yet. Is there a better loadout for these guys? Ive been using scions as stand-ins, but without deepstrike or taurox they feel completely different.

I'm thinking of running a squad of 10 with 2 flamers and a heavy flamer team in a storm Chimera, but I'm also considering a more close combat oriented squad. My artillery can deal with most blobs and heavy targets, but maybe having 2 plasma or melta grenadiers rushing up the field will help? Especially if I need to divert the artillery to take out a different target such as a flier.

Here's what I'm thinking right now:
Death Korps Grenadiers: hotshot laspistol/power sword, 7 hotshot lasguns, 2 melta guns
Field officer: plasma pistol/power sword
Death Korps Storm Chimera: Heavy Flamer, autocannon turret.

Of course if I forgo the AT weapons, I could put in the 2 flamers and heavy flamer for a total of 4d6 auto-hits to nearby units.

How do you effectively use grenadiers? They are the better troops option, but more costly.

Honestly I think the best way to use Grenadiers is with a Centaur carrying a group of 5 with 2 special weapons. The Centaur's are relatively cheap and durable, will get the Grenadiers where you want them and then hang around to hold objectives or lay down light fire.

Agreed with the Centuars

Plus they get a free 9" move before turn 1, so you can Theoretically get a 21" move on turn 1
