No edition has ever been fully acceptable to the GW consumer base. Because they are either incompetent, or else, downright malicious. Feth them.

GW has been around over 30 years. They've had abundant chances to make a well-playtested ruleset and provide models at a price-point that most people are satisfied with.

When have they actually done this?

If they've never done this, please, explain to me:

Why do you like GW?

Voted 8th edition just to spite you.

Because I like the 40k fluff at the time of my introduction to it. And I like playing pewpewlayzors.
And 5e was fun. Voted 5e because I cannot say about 8e for certain yet.
And 8e looks to be the edition where GW finally gets woke.
And because criticism =/= hatred of the entire subject.

5th and 8th edition were perfect editions that fully satisfy the consumer base.

You're joking, right?

That is not what I said, nor does it have to be true to be worth sticking around. Chocolate cake has too high a calorie count to stop me from feeling at least a little greedy and thus 100% satisfied. But I still like it.

Do you know what 5th and 8th edition have in common?

IG auto-win.

5th and 8th all the way. 5th being my first edition, and was the most balanced IMO, 8th for GW actually taking steps to improve the game from a bloated mess, and streamlining the rules to be more friendly to casual players, as well as allowing for less of the imbalances of 6th/7th, appealing to competitive players.

No edition will "fully" satisfy the consumer base, as you yourself indicate, but that doesn't mean that GW are irredeemable. No game is 100% satisfactory. Chess, a game that's been around for centuries, is unattractive to some, but no-one will say it's an unsuccessful game. D&D doesn't appeal to everybody, but it's still a massive success.

I voted 8th, because I like the promise of it, and look forward to Nu-GW.

IG had a temporary leafblower list that was both optional and avoidable. The same will occur here. You can, you know, actually negotiate with the other player.

I'm really not seeing what you're hoping to achieve with this thread.

Obviously no edition has been perfect, or satisfied 100% of GW's customer base. 30 years, or 300 years, no company is ever going to achieve that.

If you're just looking to vent about how much you've decided you hate GW, I would recommend starting a blog.
