I've been looking around for alternate chaos spawn and the one I really want to use is the Khorgaroth Hellbrute from AoS. I think it's a 60mm base, and I think I can fit it onto a 50mm but I'm not sure. Would this work or would it be too big? I already have 2 awesome princes so I don't need another one, though he would make a cool non flying prince too. Also, it's for my Death Guard army. Thanks!

Just stick him on a rock or bit of cork if he doesn't fit on the base normally.

I personally do not like the GW spawn, and think its it is overpriced.

I used a Kromlech mini and am real happy with it. On top of that it fits the base perfectly, and it was $14.00 lol. Good quality.

I currently have one of the Plague Toads from FW as one Spawn. The more I look at the Hellbrute it seems more daunting, the base is oval. I'm assuming you cannot use an oval base for Chaos spawn correct?

Here's a Khorgorath on a round base:

Is that 50 or 60mm? I can't really tell, but know how big the model is I think it might be 60mm.

Because here's a Khorgorath on a 50mm square:

A 50mm square has a 70mm diagonal, which this dude is standing along. So guessing 60mm for that round. Could overhang a 50mm if you really want him to.

Also +1 to using the Khorgorath if you can make it work. Cheap to get and decent big gribbly, if pretty samey / hard to convert if you're using a bunch of them.

I figure I can green stuff some pus pockets and boils, paint him all green and nurgle. I think he looks sorta more Nurgle than Khorne already but that may just be me. I ordered 2 toads and the Khorgorath so it'll have the master and pet vibe too hopefully.

What faction is your chaos army? If it is Nurgle, I might have a good option for you. Mantic games has a model called a PlaugeBurster (I think that's the name anyway). It looks like a mini Great Unclean One, but still able to walk on two feet .

I've been having the same problem with the giant spawn, i'm thinking I might use the Mutalith or Slaughterbrute.

I am converting some old warmahordes models as my Spawn and Daemon Princes.

Heresy, i know.

I'll be converting some farrow as Pestigors if we get them too

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

I converted a khorgorath to a helbrute with some bits from the multi part helbrute box.

IMO it's a little big for a spawn. I use the FW Renegade Ogryns for my death guard spawn, but that is a little pricey, which is why I don't have a full unit yet.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

Im a fan of chaosing up rat ogres. Basically any of the minotaur sized fantasy kits. Or literally building them from scratch. YMMV

I'd use him as one of the larger Spawn variants, FW make their rules. For regular CS, I'm using Rat Ogres, Blightkings, Minotaurs, Raveners with Medusa heads, Wrathmongers, Crypt Flayers... and I'm sure I'll find plenty more besides

I'm actually searching for qn alternative model for Tzeentch Chaos Spawn. Something that is beaked, feathered, ir multi-eyed but isn't ugly as Nurgle. Other than a Sigmar model I saw (looks like a ghost) I haven't seen anything interesting yet.

Rat Ogres already have a pinhead vibe, if you can make GS heathers than Tzaangor head swaps could be pretty cool. In fact, I'm gonna put that on my to-do list right now, that'll save me buying and reposing five Thaumaturgei.

Rat ogres from the old fantasy line? They look pretty neat.
