IIRC, someone on FB posted the contents of the new American book and it included Sherman, Lee, and Stuart armored companies, M10 tank destroyer company, armored rifle company, and rifle company. No para list, no ranger list, no recce list. From the previous releases, its possible that some or all those three might be available later in the American Command Cards, but at this point we don't know.
Likewise the British and German paras may be in their respective second books, but that's just speculation. Likewise no word on what's going to be in the Italian book when it finally comes out.

I've heard that the second British book will focus on infantry so I would expect them to be in that.
Also, the Americans look like they'll go well with my Desert Rats and I'll be able to put all my American tanks to good use.

Were there any American Paras or rangers in Africa? Recce seems a surprising absence. But the other two might have to do with the formations just not being present in Africa (as opposed to Italy later on, which might be covered by a different book).

The 1st Ranger Battalion landed in Algeria as part of Operation Torch and later went on to to fight with distinction in Tunisia. There were American paratroopers in Africa as well, also as part of Operation Torch.

While I'm good on Priests for my Americans, I do wonder if the gun will be included to make Sextons.
Safe bet this is Battlefront's September/October releases before Stripes hits in November-ish? Not sure if the month is mentioned in there, but my limited grasp of Romance languages didn't seem to spot any dates referenced.

The Priest (top) and Sexton (bottom) are sufficiently different enough that I don't believe Battlefront will try and use a single kit to represent both vehicles.

It's theoretically possible to make it a two-in-one kit. Both the M7 and the Sexton were based on the M3 chassis. The new plastic Grant/Lee kit has a bathtub-style lower hull that the transmission cover and tracks are glued onto. It's feasible to have the two upper hull pieces and guns to make each variant, similar to what Battlefront has done with the Panther/Jagdpanther kit.

While a different top wouldn't be much more space on the sprue compared to the space taken up by top/bottom turret options of the Grant, I do think Ghaz is probably right that BF will take a swing-and-a-miss on that one. It just seems like too big of a part, both size-wise and basically being the "core" of the vehicle. I wouldn't mind if they did so, since I could then get some Artillery for my nascent British armored formations, but I imagine that will be a forlorn hope in time.
Not like I need yet more stuff on the mountain range of shame anyway.

The was an American Para list and Ranger list in the old North Africa book. I'm not an expert on the American involvement in North Africa so I can't say where or when they were present.
Recce as a list was absent from both the German and British books, although I think armored car recce lists were added to both in their respective Command Card releases, so I would expect we might see the same with the Americans.

The FOW website lists Red Thunder releases through the end of August, so September seems the earliest I'd expect the MW American book and associated miniatures releases to start.

The old North Africa book covered Mid-War Italy as well, iirc. But it's already been noted above that there were units of both historically present in Tunisia.

The Q&A session from Historicon indicated there will be a dedicated MW Africa Airborne book covering both Axis and Allied para units.

Fallschimjager were obviously fighting in MW Africa.
The British 1st Parachute Brigade arrived during Operation Torch, with a battalion commanded by LCol John Frost of future Arnhem fame.
The US had a single battalion of the 509th PIR during Operation Torch as well.

My second FOW army was a Fallschirmjager list, based on the Ramcke Brigade in North Africa.
