Actually surprisingly no. I just hit the bases en-masse with the airbrush with red, yellow, orange and white (note don't let much red/white show as it does not show as great through the cracks). The hairdrying is only 20secs a base. I did the cracking paint over two nights and it works just as shown on the GW video. I did add some Lahman to the black before watering it with Nuln though to get a better consistency.

!!!Some of the black may peel - I overwashed all of the bases with a very generous Lahman Medium to coat them!!!
