One thing I would recommend is a Noxious Blightbringer. They count as an elite choice, but they're kind of like HQs. They aren't very good at attacking, but they buff Death Guard units around them with speed, and they make close combat fights deadlier for units by them with their bubble of -1 leadership. The main reason you take them is to give all DG units around the Blightbringer 2d6 pick the highest result when making advance rolls.
With zombies only moving 4 inches, you're going to want to advance with them as much as possible, so the blight bringer makes it much easier to give them around 7-9 inch movement every turn.
I personally haven't used helbrutes yet, but they seem much better than they used to be, and they get a chance to shoot twice in a turn if the enemy attacks them, so thats nice hah I agree, defilers are super expensive now.
