Working on a small force of Orks to play little games with. Loved the Ork Deff Dreads and such so much I figured Id go with a Mek list.

Any thoughts? I have 3 Deff's, 9 Kans, and 1 gork in my army, but am trying to figure out how to make them work in smaller games!

Big Mek in Mega Armor w/ Kustom Force Field

x5 Storm Boys

X2 Deff Dreads w/ x2 Skorchas each

x3 Big Gunz with Lobbas

Well first off you need to post more photos of those Orks!!

Recently I've been using a couple of mobs of Kans with Kustom Mega Blastas (you'll have these on your Deff Dread sprues, they fit on fine), a Mek (not big) with Kustom Mega Slugga and Oiler (repair overheats), and a Morkanaught with KFF to keep them all safe.
That little group has been doing quite well.

The kustom forcefield is ok on the mek, but if you're using a Morkanaut, then that bubble is bigger and easier to project. Will you be using forgeworld? The walkers made by them are awesome.

I have 3 dreads, one morkanaut, one kustom stompa, 15 kanz, and a Mega-Dread. It's a very fun list.

Deff Dreads are much better this edition--skorchas for infantry, klaws for everything else.

At 30PL there isn't much wiggle room. If you wanted more bodies, or walkers in this case, you could swap the stormboyz and 1 dread for 3 killa kans and another mek gun but you lose out on close combat potential.

The stormboyz seem a bit fragile, and with the rest of your army being mechanized they will be the focus of anti infantry fire if they cant get into cc fast enough. Although I love how they have a jump pack dread to match them in your pictures

The mega armor is taking 2 PL more than a normal big mek would. Do you intend for him to get into cc or is it just a precaution against deep strike an shoot armies? I am worried that his movement of 4 will not be enough to keep up with the dreads. Dropping the mega armor coul get you 2 more big gunz or 5 more stormboyz.

I think the list is almost as good as it's going to get with the 30PL restriction. Don't forget to kit out your units since gear is free in PL--nob for stormboyz, kombi weapons on big mek and nob, etc.

I just played a game with x2 Skorchas on a single dread. Killed 7 Necron warriors in overwatch!!! Quite happy with the Dread in this edition. Yes 30PL = low model count for a Dread Mob.
The storm boyz were wiped out to a man in 1 round of shooting haha. Yes so you are 100% right they were the focus as they flew up the middle of the board! About the PL, yes I forgot to mention I swapped out 1 storm boy for a nob with a klaw as well.

Unfortunately the Jump pack dread does not go any faster! (Unless maybe they release special Clan rules that I can use to do just that)

Mega armor was just to keep him alive and fixin'

My buddy showed up to a 1000 point team tournament with Gorkanaut w/kff, one deff dread, a bunch of cans, and warboss riding the gorkanaut. That's all he had.

His team tabled all of his opponents that day.
