Just about to buy a Super Heavy Tank from Forgeworld!

Its a big investment into the hobby and I really want to use the Legion Fellblade....However, I like the look of the Legion Glaive more. Given the difference is pretty much just the turret, would you have an issue with something playing the Glaive Model as a Fellblade? Would a TO have any problems?

They are exactly the same tank just with a different gun...

A Tournament would probably disallow it.

No, I personally wouldn't mind someone using Glaive as Fellblade.

Why can't you just use it as a Glaive then? ...rule of cool, and cool model - beats "slightly better rule" - every time.

Personally, I have no problem. The aesthetics of the game is far more important to me than the more nitpick rules and as long as the thing doesn't actually turn into a Glaive halfway through the game, I see no problems.

However, as far as weapons and WYSIWYG goes, you should have the proper weapon. That said, only tournaments might see some problems with it. I have yet to meet a reasonable player that wouldn't be ok with something like this ("reasonable" here means that if he/she takes issue with this, they would have probably take issue with a lot more stuff down the line).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I would however I cannot see the rules for the Glaive in the recent Imperial Armour Index (Forces of the Adeptus Astartes); if I have missed the entry please let me know?

The glaive doesn't have 40k rules, only 30k, I don't think most people would have a problem and few independent tournaments would either (at least here), but you would need to ask beforehand. If they released 40k rules then at tournies people wouldn't allow the proxy.

The biggest difference between the two models, not counting the turret, is the hull demolisher cannon on the Fellblade.

I think it's fine.

8th Edition's lack of fire-arcs, etc. has made me absolutely joyous in some regards: You can essentially model a tank however you want. Want a casemate-style Tank Destroyer? Use a vanquisher but put the gun in the hull and the hull lascannon or whatever as a pintle mount! Want a 'landship' look without running a superheavy? Run a quad-lascannon predator and put one main turret superfiring over two lesser turrets like a T-28!

You can do all sorts of cool stuff now; my favorite landship idea is a Land Raider with two twin-lascannon turrets and a super-structure mounted heavy bolter!

Oh yeah if there's not even 40k rules for it - then definitely a 'counts-as' is acceptable.

I would say that, if possible, magnetising the options would be the absolute best way to go (it's better to have the right weapon at least), but I wouldn't have a problem with this - some tournaments might disallow it, but anyone who doesn't allow it is really being a complete dick. Money doesn't grow on trees and this hobby is expensive.

Having said that about magnetisation, I have no idea how hard it is to get the weapon parts for these vehicles on eBay etc and I also don't know how hard it would be to magnetise them as I'm not aware of how they fit together.

If you get your opponent to agree to Forgeworld you're 90% of the way there.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Meh, not at all. If they are close in size and form, no reason to say 'you are fake model!'

For large/expensive models (that are similar size etc) I personally wouldn't care so long as you say at the start. For normal infantry or normal tanks etc, I prefer to only play with and against wysiwyg (when people start saying half their meltaguns are plasma guns and the rest are still meltaguns and all their grav guns are flamers except these 2 which are grav guns... etc, I go cheers for the offer but I'll have to pass). Its to hard for me to keep track of.

This is probably going to be your biggest issue (for pick-ups etc, tournies will say at the start 1. If can use Forgeworld 2. Most say no proxies). A couple times of late I bring my repressor heavy SOB army along for a pick-up or 2 and my opponent/s go no Forgeworld (luckily I always bring a second army list and models for it that has immolators just in case).

If you want to take it to tournies, I would say find something else you like the look of that you can actually use for your money (better safe than having a center piece model you can't use).
