Can anyone direct me to a conversation about Archaeon and the Varanguard?

Keen to learn about the viability of this army, never collected them before and could not spot anything in first few pages discussing them.

Right now it's not too great; Archaeon is OP but Varanguard are UP, and there are several really nasty ways to use Archaon that don't involve Varanguard. However, GHB2 is right around the corner meaning varanguard could get a point decrease and perhaps more importantly you will be allowed to declare everchosen allegiance and still bring 400 points of allies from other chaos factions.

So in other words; will most likely be viable a month from now.

The big thing about GHB2017 and those allies rules is that ,even if you Varanguard don't get a decrease, you may not have to rely on them to be your battleline in an Everchosen army. You could use some of the more cost-effective battleline choices for Chaos and us your Varanguard as your head shock cavalry as they were originally intended.

I was a bit disappointed that it looks like these guys won't be getting an allegiance ability in GH2. I guess Archaon is strong enough already.

Guess I will wait for the new rules then
