Greetings,
Recently picked up the Icestorm Starter, have 1 whole game under my belt. Have a sml league coming up for a bunch new guys, would like some advice on what I plan to start with. Will bump up 50pts every week. I feel like I'm converting all my bases, would prefer a hacker and more bodies but I'll add as I go. Thanks

Gathering the Informations.

Are you wanting to stay vanilla or are you interested in expanding into a Sectorial?

Your first list seems fairly solid. Like you said, a Hacker might not be a bad idea(especially given the presence of the ORC, heavy infantry are vulnerable to enemy Hackers) but my suggestions are going to be based upon if you're wanting to stay Vanilla or expand into a Sectorial.

Also!
How long will this league be running for? You have some units coming down the pipe soon that will be a huuuuuuuuge deal.

Is the league going to use ITS style missions or are you just running around killing stuff? If its going to be based on ITS you will need some more specialists in your list. Maybe drop one of the Nisse for a hacker etc?

Oh, and converting all your bases is optional.

Vanillla, don't know about the missions yet. But the first game will be kill them all games.

Was thinking of bumping the fusiliers to FO's and adding a FO Father Knight to try those nimbus grenades.

Nimbus grenades aren't good I'm afraid. Although the profile makes the Father Knight a specialist, you only have a combi rifle to work with. For a specialist it's hard to miss the Hospitaller option, you get a multi rifle, a specialist and the stealth perk from being the martial artist. Frenzy being his downside.

You better off upgrading the fusiliers to medics to be honest. For the father knight you are probably better off taking him as an assault hacker. That makes the father knight a good anti hacker option since he has bst of 9 as well as the assault hacking device. PanO lists can be vulnerable to hackers since we have so many good heavy infantry.

Specialists can be very powerful in infinity but a lot of that depends on the mission. In order to complete a lot of the missions you need specialists, which are things like hackers, FOs, or engineers. Some objectives in missions are easier for certain specialists to do.

I play vanilla PanO normally and it has lots of good heavy infantry, powerful ranged options but somewhat weak specialists. Usually I end up trying to control the board and/or kill the enemy with my big guns and tags so my specialists can complete the objectives unmolested.

As far as what to start with I would look to try get medics or doctors into the lists since being able to revive your unconscious models is very useful. PanO also has some really good TO camo options as well such as the crock man and the swiss guard. The swiss guard with missile launcher can be devastating reacting to the enemy from hidden deployment. Also as far as heavy infantry goes the aquila guard with HMG is a really powerful model and the knights are good as well.

I know they are coming out with a new beyond icestorm box set for expanding the started. link Beyond that the PanO support pack would be a good buy, and maybe the fusiliers box.

Welcome to the game!

It's likely you'll be playing the official escalation league scenarios so you won't have to worry about specialists for another couple of rounds, therefore no need to include hackers or FOs. My advice would be to have fun, kill stuff, and get the basics down. Guerrilla Miniature Games on YouTube has some excellent Infinity batreps that will give you a good idea of how the rules work in practice; he does a really good job of explaining what is going on at each point.

In terms of what to buy next, I would suggest skimming through all of the range of Pan O models, choosing the ones you most like the look of and working out which sectorial they best fit in to. If it's a mix then you might want to go for vanilla. Have a play with the Army builder too https://army.infinitythegame.com/ Let us know how it goes!
