Just picked up the Starter set a few weeks ago. For those unaware, the new set comes with Three Ghulams, a Zhayedan, Khawarij and Taureg. Only played a couple of games so far tbh.

Just thought if anyone could give me advice what to get next? I've already ordered the Support pack to get that doctor with remote (and engineer + remote by extension, may just proxy him as a second doctor). I've heard flamers are great for Haqqislam so I've been eyeing up the NAFFATÛN and tbh I think the models look great! However the Ghulam Infantry box comes with a ton of loadout options for my core troops.

I don't want to go for any massive guys yet or OP individual models. I would much rather get my core army/squad together.

Also I was wondering if someone could explain the difference between Sectoral and Vanilla? Still rather green tbh.

Tbh the line Infantry SWC boxes see less use unless you are your sectorial for fireteams. I would get Muttawi'ah as they are a given unless going foe QK. Other than that Al'Hawwa and Farzan are solid specialist and support troops. Beyond that find something that can put out some damage that you like.

Firstly, welcome to the game!

Vanilla grants access to all of the troop types but denies access to Link Teams [teams of up to 5 who can all move together using one Order and gain bonuses to shooting] and has less AVA [multiples you can take of one unit] of certain units. Sectorials have the unit choices limited to make them more thematic but gain access to Link Teams and greater AVA of certain units. The two sectorials available to Haqqislam are Hassassin Bahram [sneaky assassins and lots of Viral ammunition, usually referred to as 'HB'] and Qapu Khalqi [mercenary troops such as the Yuan Yuan mixed in with whatever isn't assassiny from Haqqislam, usually referred to as 'QK']. I started with QK but HB has got a lot of love from CB recently and has all of the new toys and some cool new sculpts [e.g. Hassassin Ayyar]. If you do decide fo go for HB there's a new starter coming soon so I would wait for that.

In terms of what to buy it depends on whether you go vanilla or which sectorial you choose. If you go vanilla or HB I would strongly suggest getting the Ghazi Muttawiahs which are point for point one of the most effective units in the Haqq arsenal and pretty much an auto-include. If you go with QK then Yuan Yuans are fantastic.

I would suggest picking out some of your favourite models from the range and working out which sectorial they come from. If it's 50/50 then you might want to go with vanilla.

This game has a fairly steep learning curve but is incredibly rewarding, with a great community. Would be cool to hear back from you as to which option you go with.
