Saw the trailer earlier and the main issue I had with it was that it seems to make vigilante killing fun and exciting as well as funny. The movie itself may not have that vibe but the trailer makes it see more like an action-comedy whereas the original was a bit more serious about the situation.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Not interested, no matter how much I think of Willis as an actor.

And it will miss the point of the original, which was a reflection of the crime ridden mess cities like New York were back in the 1970's. It was a movie that got people talking.

This "remake" seems to borrow a couple of elements from the novel's sequel Death Sentence, which was set in Chicago (and was a reaction by Brian Garfield to the 1974 film, since it offended his sensitivities). And the trailer has more of
the schlock action movie feel of the Death Wish sequels than the seriousness of the first film.

Death Wish the original was a special commentary about life at a certain point in time in American cities. I am intereted in how they try to make this material relevant to today, but i am not optimistic about what they will be telling us in the subtext.
