They are adapters which you don't must to change your original bases to new round ones.

Round bases look much better imo.

Perhaps you could make round to square adapters?

The diagonal points of a 20mm square base reach out further than the diameter of a 25mm round base (and so on) so I am not sure how this would work with the correct base sizes.
