This came up in a few of the infamous Muggami posts in the P&M subforum.
Is it against forum rules to post links of other peoples miniatures/pics in a thread?
Im fairly certain I've done it on a few occasions trying to illustrate a particular technique or idea and seemed to have dodged the warning bullet.
Like if I post a pic of anothers work to show their style / ability is that a no no?
Or a pic of someones batrep to show a tactic or deployment?

It is generally frowned upon when people post to another user's work to say "look at this horrible example of X". I've never seen anyone have a problem with posting another user's picture to ask how something is done, or as an example paint scheme, etc.

I'd also consider it really bad taste to post work in someone else's thread in an unsolicited fashion, while we're sort of on the subject. If someone starts a thread about a Battlewagon, posting a Battlewagon you or someone else did did is a lousy thing to do.

But if someone is building something or painting something and asks for how to do something, as SilverMK2 said, then using someone else's gallery work seems 100% a good use.

Posting a pic from a batrep to show a formation or similar seems like a really good use of the gallery IMO.

It's all about context.

As Ouze said, threadjacking someone else's thread just to show off your own work is a bit shady, but posting an example picture in the context of an ongoing discussion is fine.
