eBay often has some listed, but you will lose the enjoyment of building and painting then yourself. I find that the best bit of the hobby. You may also struggle to maintain continuity throughout, if for example you buy 2nd hand painted ultramarines, it's unlikely you'll get everything you want or need from one seller, so would have to settle for minis that are all painted differently, by different people. Just my 2cents.

I'm doing my own thing because it's fun. And it takes longer, which means more entertainment value for my cash. So there

Ditto.
I got a lot of old metal from eBay cuz I like old metal
and I got a sonic cleaner from aliexpress to strip them.
Still far cheaper than buying new.
I give gw money when they deserve it.
Which is rare.
If you are careful you can find some things that fit your army and retain that sense of consistency.
I found a dakka jet painted almost exactly like my other orks vehicles and nearly smashed the bid button off the monitor.
Thing is lovely.
Saved me ten hours or more I bet.
Wasn't a model I really wanted to build and paint in the first place but looks awesome.
Now the battlewagon on the other hand that one I wanted to build and modify and paint up...
So I didn't look for a preassembled and painted model.

I can provide, but a whole army can become costly. What units are you looking for?

Not really a background topic, I've popped it into general discussion to hopefully get you more views. Good luck finding some nice models.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Best bet would be eBay (can be costly), specialist websites/Commission painters and your local gaming groups.

We have Car Boot sales here in the UK, Flea Markets and Yard Sales in the US. Sometimes you can get lucky?

eBay is the main source unless you have the funds and are willing to commission an army from a studio (in which case you either ship them models or you can often have them purchase them for you - included in the overall price).

As mentioned, continuity will be an issue if you wander outside of really common armies. If that doesn't bug you, eBay is the solution.

Do you want your models to come painted, or would you consider getting paint onto your models?
Painting services may cost a bit, but to get a uniform army, get someone to paint your models at a standard you specify.
They could be built by you, or built by the painter.

The alternatives are all listed above.
Scour ebay for painted armies, but will they have all the options and units you want? If you mix multiple armies, will they match enough for your liking?

Look around for a painting service, and see what that would cost.

If you care at all about having a uniform look to your force your best bets are

1.) Commission painters - they are costly but you will get a complete force painted in the same scheme.

2.) Ebay looking for entire painted armies - can be costly depending on the quality.

If you don't care about quality ebay works fine.

Just look on the swap shop here, while most are selling unpainted, there are those down-sizing or getting out of various hobbies altogether selling painted models.

Cheers,
