Subject: Difference between "No longer available" and "Temporarily out of stock online"??

I noticed that on the GW website some items that are unavailable are listed as 'temporarily unavailable' and others are listed as 'no longer available' for the DE such as the Venom. Anyone have any insight into why a staple model of an army would be 'no longer available'??
Could this be an indicator of changes to come with upcoming codex releases? Thoughts?

You're reading way, way too much into it. Lots of people like to on Dakka. They are usually breathlessly wrong.
Temporarily Unavailable - Obvious meaning. GW has only so much production capacity. A lot of that has been focused on 40K 8th starter sets and Primaris recently. Some other stuff of lower priority has to wait for a chance to go through the mold machines again to come back into stock.
No Longer Available - Sometimes means an item is gone for good. BUT, it more likely means the packaging, or something about the contents, such as number of models or directions has been changed. In which case the old item is retired to No Longer Available, as GW changes the item number altogether. For example, the number of Sigmar Liberators in a box went from 5 to 10, and the price changed. The old 5 box was No Longer Available for a while, before being dropped from the website in favor of the box of 10.
In short, the website and what's available or not means almost nothing every time. And it is quite likely there will be NO new Dark Eldar models whenever their codex ships. As will be the case for many armies in 8th.

Usually if it's a really old model, finecast etc No Longer Available means it's gone for good, in my experience.

Much appreciated. I didn't realize they listed their items as "No Longer Available" for the purpose of re-packaging, etc...

Right, 'no longer available' means that that SKU is out and not coming back, but is usually being replaced by something else.

To use an example here. . .there's an item listed under Necrons called "warrior ark phalanx"
It's a bundle of warriors, with a ghost ark/doomsday ark. It's no longer available at all, because it was released as part of a thing. They simply aren't continuing that bundle.
Other various characters are sold out online. . . this stuff isn't rocket surgery at all.
A lot of stuff that says unavailable for a long time is being reboxed, but "special" bundles like the ark kit I mentioned are straight gone.

Yeah, I completely get the bundles going away...it was the staples like the single Venom unit for the DE. It simply said "No longer available", which I found odd.

Last Chance to Buy is the one you that seems to be a clear indicator of minis going away for good
(although they also seem to put up some of the boxed bundles when the contents will stick around as separates)

(that's the UK page and it's empty at the moment, but every country should have the filter)

If you are reboxing something to update it (bases, datasheets, box art, etc.) or to change the price of it (different number of miniatures) then your stock control system has to differentiate because you need to sell the old ones first and you need to make sure you're getting the price correct.
As such, as far as the stock control system is concerned these are two different items. One of them is going to get discontinued and the new item will go live at some subsequent time. It doesn't really understand that the new thing replaces the old thing (most stock control systems are pretty dumb).

No Longer Available is more relevant when it is listed alongside boxed games. Those aren't being reboxed, though as with Space Hulk, they may (or may not) return years later.

Unless it's Forge World. Then "Temporarily Unavailable" for a few months means "No Longer Available" down the road. Or it just disappears from FW's website.
