Checking out the new codex, here is a list I'm considering for ITC.

Death Guard Battalion

Typhus
Necrosius

Poxwalkers, 17 models
Poxwalkers, 17 models
Poxwalkers, 17 models
Poxwalkers, 17 models

Noxious Blightbringer

Black Legion Supreme Command Detachment

Abaddon (Warlord)
Daemon Prince with wings, sword and talons
Daemon Prince with wings, sword and talons
Daemon Prince with wings, 2 sets of talons
Daemon Prince with wings, 2 sets of talons

Chaos Terminators, 5 models, 5 combi-plasma, 4 power axes, power fist on the champion

1999 points, 9 command points

Here is my plan, Poxwalkers can walk forward with Death Guard characters (a unit can stay behind for objectives if necessary), Daemon Princes can move forward, Abaddon with terminators can deep strike. Hopefully, terminators,Abaddon, and princes can all get to the enemy at the same time.

I would drop the DG entirely and use all BL. The codex makes cultist ObSec and 4pts each, thats 240pts for 6 units of 10. Use them in the same way you are using the poxwalkers, then use the rest of the points to go all in on DPs. 6 DPs, the 6 MSU cultist, and Abaddon adds up to 1,560pts and gives you 9 CPs. The rest will be Terminators to go with Abaddon.

I like this list, too. MOAR daemon princes!!

You could use the poxwalkers as cultist, dont think anyone would care.

This got me started on something similar, just with Berzerkers instead of terminators (because I have a bunch of zerkers and no termies). 440 points is enough for 2 MSU squads with PF in Rhinos, but I would rather spend that all on slaanesh combi-plasma terminators that can double tap with all that dakka before charging in with Abaddon. Guess I need to get a box of them!

I've got a ton of cultists, so it's easy to do. Will the cultists just drop like flies without something like disgusting resilience?

I was wrong, you can get 12 CPs with only 5 DPs, but I would take 7 so you'd have just enough left for 5 combi-plasma terminators. Thats a BL supreme command with Abaddon, 2 DPs, and 5 terminators for +3CPs (since Abaddon is warlord). Every thing else goes in an AL brigade for +6 CPs and giving them all "stealth". Now your 60 cultist should survive.

I'm leaning on poxwalkers being a better bet than cultists for obj holding provided that you make the detachment alpha legion (they can take nurgle so no biggie). If you ran Bl cultists, you'd lose -1 to hit, fnp and immunity to morale. Yes, you'd free up points by running cultists, but it'll be far easier to get them off of objectives. Alternatively, run alpha legion cultists if you really want the extra points.

Edit: I'm not too familiar with named characters and the new codex, so, the DG HQ's may not be able to go with alpha legion, idk. I'd still say poxwalkers would be better for your backline, even without the -1 to hit.

Edit 2: You're considering this for a tournament, so, why DG and BL? DG don't have any tactics rn, and Bl's one isn't great, nor does it synergise with this list.

The codex gave cultist ObSec, thats the kicker. Poxwalkers arent even in the CSM codex so they cant be AL. Some are BL because Abaddon is the warlord, but most of the DPs will be AL.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
You could drop Abaddon and the terminators and go a full 9 DPs and 9 cultist and still get the +12 CPs and be any legion you want. Or just trade Abaddon for 1 DP and more terminators if you still want to use those, which may be a solid option. You would only have +10 CPs in that list though.

If there aren't rules for units in the codex, then you use the index rules where needed. This applies for lords on bikes etc - who still gain the legion tactics despite not being in the codex. I thought the same would apply for poxwalkers.

I believe you are right, but not being in the codex means thet are stuck with DG legion keyword and thus do not gain any legion traits. I believe this means they cant be part of a battle forged CSM army (since no DG legion keyword in book means no battle-forged DG yet) and thus cannot gain ObSec, yet.

Abby pays a premium to allow his friends to ignore morale, but pretty much everything in this detachment is immune to morale. (except termies I guess).

I would probably drop him for another prince or something.

Aftermath can be calculated.

He also gives a bonus to the slaanesh terminators with combi-plasmas, althought I dont remember exactly what it is off the top of my head. They can shoot twice one round, so really benefit from him. Plus he gives 2CP when he is warlord.

Poxwalkers and cultists don't get obj sexure IIRc.

Only heretic astartes in battle forged get it, and neither of those units get that keyword.

Cultist have it in the codex, thats why I'd go with them. Plus 2pts cheaper

On another note, I'm not finding the benefit of blightbringer over plaguecaster. In 3 games the caster does wonders while the cow bell seems to sit in the back of a Deathguard unit not doing much. Am I doing it wrong? Or others finding the same thing.

NOVA, where I'll be playing this list, just made poxwalkers ObSec. Poxwalkers now are better than cultists?

After a couple of games, I've learned a couple of things and made some tweaks.

Typhus is decent. Abaddon is really good, not amazing, but solid. I'm not sold on Necrosius or Noxious Blightbringer, but I'm not sure what would be better for force multipliers. More terminators might be the way to go. I love the daemon princes.

I dropped two poxwalkers in each squad and added a terminator. Other changes might be get rid of Necrosius or Noxious Blightbringer.
